There's something wrong in Colorado...
So I asked Mikhail about having a external PS that wasn't 14amps. He said this: "The outboard supply was likely custom configured utilizing 200% duty cycle." Can someone explain to me what that means?

There's something wrong in Colorado...
So... was I mislead in thinking that I would be getting a 14 amp external transformer?

There's something wrong in Colorado...
I guess at least I never tried running 6528s... I have no idea how the amp started its life, just that I received it in Sept. of last year. And... are you saying that I bought a 14 amp transformer that doesn't actually put out that much? (Please excuse my lack of knowledge.)

The 220uf 200v BG and 1000uf 15v BG both say +85 degrees C on them. For what it's worth regarding the 6528's. When I was discussing a possible sale with riceboy, I did email Mikhail to ask and he did confirm that I should be able to use them.

We run a MEG and don't get to recycle our helium... it just kind of dissipates and needs to be refilled once a week.- There's something wrong in Colorado...
I guess I'll go look at getting new hex screws that are larger... and harder to strip. Here's what Mikhail told me about what tubes I could run. (I can send him an email if to see about running higher power tubes and see what he says.) And Mr. Gilmore, in the interest of knowing more about this amp, let me know specifically what angles you would like to see, and I will take pictures tonight. -Eric- Cryo treating tubes

Speaking of Zu Cables. Can someone explain what B3 geometry looks like? There's a picture of the manufacturing on the 6moons website but that didn't help much.- There's something wrong in Colorado...
They say 250 ohm and then 5%. Let me know if you want more specs. I've only run 6080s and 6AS7s so I can't speak to the 6528s. On a slightly different note... what goes into making his "tube adapters" like the ECC1, ECC2, and 2C51? The last one apparently costs $99... Oh. And would it be a good idea to replace the hex screws with phillips?- There's something wrong in Colorado...
Let me know what you guys think.- There's something wrong in Colorado...
Muahahaha I am victorious. I used a ball-hex screw and got it out by daisy chaining a wrench to make enough leverage to unscrew it.- There's something wrong in Colorado...
Your fun? What about mine? I love taking stuff apart.- There's something wrong in Colorado...
Now I can't... one of the hex screws was stripped after install, and I can't get the last one off.- There's something wrong in Colorado...
Rgr. Gonna unpack it from its box and see what we can see. Commentary after pics are posted would definitely be appreciated.- There's something wrong in Colorado...
Hey man! I will hopefully get around to opening it up tonight and will definitely take pictures of both the PS and the actual amp when I do. Should I make a new thread for the pictures? Or go ahead and put them here.- Cryo treating tubes
You should try some liquid helium.- There's something wrong in Colorado...
haha That means I have to unpack it... Have been trying to sell it for a while. I guess by unpacking it and taking some pics, I might do some good for the community. What kind of precautions should I take when opening it up?- There's something wrong in Colorado...
Dunno if I should try opening it up to see... is it worth taking a look? Actually now I'm curious how the 14amp external PS chains into the Extreme...- Modwright 9100ES
Good point. He has been focusing on his own product line.- There's something wrong in Colorado...
Man that makes me 0-2. I have an Extreme and an Apache. Regarding the Extreme... mine is a "new" version with a 14 amp external PS and the piltron. Any idea if he made changes to FET problem? I did notice that the chassis gets really warm when I run it... to the point the volume knob is almost hot to the touch.- Ok, convince me to get a PS3
Kinda off topic... but I think it can be a complex game if you chose to play it that way, but you can also blaze your way through it... with guns blazing. Without the cut scenes, the game is actually pretty short imho.- Modwright 9100ES
Nice. Now I'm wondering if MW is going to tackle that new Sony ES player they showed at CEDIA.- Ok, convince me to get a PS3
You should get the PS3 that comes with MGS4. =D The cinematics in the game are awesome. - Cryo treating tubes
