I was also pretty happy with my T-Amp/Polk RTi4 setup with my computer. Thats been regulated to the TV/Wii now though and I use my QP85's and a mosfet amp on my computer.

Yeah I currently some nice moonsoon speakers. I got them for 1/3 the price when I bought them. ^^

Unfortunately the 1/8" connection on the subwoofer is pretty sketchy. Maybe I will buy a part and fix it hmmm.

Hrm my friend is looking for some 2.0 dealios for his computer. 150 dollar price range. I rock some M-Audios myself and like them but they are slightly out of his budget and I'm sure there are other good brands too. Swan m-200s? I don't know.

It also seems that Axiom has gotten into computer speakers as well with their metal cone speakers and tweeters ... this is gonna be interesting i'd like to see a head to head review against the A5 seeing as how their selling for the same price if you go for the charcoal that is, no reviews on them yet, they've just come out.

http://www.genelec.com/products/2-way-monitors/8020a/ small, active, and isolated not to screw up your CPU screen. they are considered studio monitors (Pro Audio World) but are more colored and cheaper than your your typical studio monitor (Adam, Focal, or Barefoots) therefore they kinda fall in between. they make different sizes and subs. an older pair of 1030a(s) would be ideal (they sound incredible!) and can be found for quite relatively cheap on ebay. Obviously this all depends on how u r going out of your CPU and if you have an external balanced soundcard. If you have a digital out (SPDIF) i'd even look into the Dynaudio Air series http://www.dynaudioacoustics.com/ which are again more colored that your typical studio monitor. these are all a bit higher in price but man they sound amazing!

Have you heard the Focals? I am a big fan of Focal, but have never found anyone who's actually heard the pro active monitors. Seems they should be good.

yes and they are amazing and heard them in a buddy's studio! people were having a problem getting them cuz they had a slow time distributing them and most retailers were backed up with orders but i think it's gotten better. they are a bit pricey (still the best $ to quality around) depending on the monitor but are more made for the recording and mastering studios http://www.mercenary.com/focalmonitors.html

again though for different applications then what is needed here. genelec and dynaudio are colored just enough and have enough models where you can you can match them up to the size of your room. i actually know some cats that use the older model of genelecs (1031a) in their home entertainments systems.

Yeah, I know I was derailing the thread a little bit, but I have a home studio and like to drool over high-end pro gear as well as high-end home gear...will have to find a way to hear those Barefoots...but if I win the lottery, I'm definitely getting those Focals...

Biggie -- it's actually not a bad idea to think about active pro speakers for your computer rig, if you want really good sound -- most of them are designed for nearfield listening, which is what one does at a computer. I'm actually using Quad 12L actives for my computer speakers here at work. And the shielded is a good idea, too, to keep the "dirty" computer environment away from the high-end electronics of the active speaker, and vice versa.

i agree and the tiny genelecs have little pegs and can be nicely set up right next to your screen. BTW, the barefoots micromains are $6500 for the pair. 2nd hand ive seen them for $6000 \ and that rarely happens cuz people usually keep them. back to the thread at hand.

AudioEngine just came out with a matching sub too for the A5 monitors. Spec say they go down to 30Hz, which is decent for a sub of that size. It should make a fairly decent computer system.
