  • See that red jumper wire in the terminal block? I'd say that is the voltage setting and this is picture of a 230V unit. Anybody have a US unit they want to open up?

  • Somebody really should write a practical electronics book for audiophiles....

  • just came here thinking it was that thread...

Sorry to bump the thread. I'm thinking of getting a PWD but not sure if it could be converted to 230v AC. The only clear pic of the transformer I could find is the one from 6moons:

The dealer wants $200 to do the conversion, which I never want to do.

One of members is helping me with this conversion, I took fotos today. If we get it done you can change your without any costa and with the benefit of greater sound... The outboard transforme can be limiting the power and the sound... Details on the last post of this thread... Regards.

I wish i had jumped on the mk2 upgrade kit earlier.  Apparently they don't offer upgrade boards to the mk2 anymore.  They do have upgrade boards, but it's a friggin' $3k upgrade to some fancy new directstream dac (damn thing's 6k new).  That's a good bit of distance from what I wanted to spend.

The Mk2 is pretty sweet, but maybe you can find a fresh used one for sale and sell the Mk1 to make up some of the cost?  I'd bet people will still pay $1000-1500 for a Mk1, when they previously were selling for $2K used before the Mk2 came out. Either way, the Mk1 was still a very good DAC.

Not nearly desperate enough for the DSD upgrade, unless I can get the upgrade for about 2k (not paying 3k to essentially have refurb equipment of something no one I trust has auditioned).  I'll either do a swap for a mk2, or look for another dac (perhaps the m51 or the auralic vega).

That's weird. I just got the mk2 upgrade 2 months ago. Had to ship it in, but they did it for $900. Maybe I got lucky.

I'll pm you the info, maybe that'll help.

I was talking about a Mk2.  I'm not desperate enough for the DSD upgrade either.  I have a Nuforce DSD DAC with coax out that I can always use to feed into the Mk2 if needed.

PWD Thread: RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!

With all the Directstream talk around I've been looking at this.

Has anyone heard this thing? Can it possibly live up to all the hype?

Seems like a crazy price for an upgrade.

Also, you should know that when I upgraded mine from a MKI to an MKII, I fucked up the LCD screen.  I sent it back to PS Audio and they took care of everything though.

Mildly interested. It would take a lot to pry that kind of cash from me for an upgrade. I'm still quite happy with my mk2.

Get the YGGY........  :P
