About 3 weeks to arrival in UK from Poland, obviously probably longer to your destination

Cheers

  • After 5 years from the time I acquired the PCBs and parts, I finally took advantage of the free time created by the pandemic and completed my KGSSHV.  This is the offboard version with +/-500V supply.

  • Not sure if we have a KGSS thread but I'll just post this here.  So last year it dawned on me that I built my first KGSS amp 15 years ago and something had to be done to celebrate that.  It started of

I've just looked up his audio grade description:

In audio grade, noiseless transformer price You'll get transformer wound on high inductive, selected and measured core. Core and all the windings will be impregnated. Transformer will also has electric and electromagnetic shields, epoxy filled interior and mounting pads in price.

Shipping cost to UK - 19,00 EUR/package up to 30kg. (1pc 100VA's = 1,4kg)

Payment via bank transfer or PayPal.

Production and delivery in ~18-24 days .

Just finishing up my amp boards.  I wanted to confirm that these two locations are to be left empty?

Those are links connecting tracks on the other side of the board.

Yes, leave them alone.

First KGSSHVk up and running... :)

This is a 450V version and sound bloody good...

That's nice, looks smaller - to save me working it out what size case is that again?

Is it me or Spritzer just said a bad word?  :o

Just curious, has anyone put together a BOM for the KGSSHV mini PSU?

Tran told: ksc5026 and ksa1156, instead of the 2sc3840 and 2sa1486.

There's more parts need for mini PSU. 2x 2K resistor, 2x 270V zener, 2x 24V zener. (You may check schematic and pcb, Dr.Gilmore has posted them.)

+/- 15V capacitors size has been changed. 2x 3300uF and 2x 330uF, dimeter/pitch are 16mm/7.5mm and 10mm/3.5mm. 78/7915 don't need heatsink.

You need to use 270v zener if opting for the ksc and ksa.

Also, total of diode strings is 500v for 450vdc and 550v for 500vdc output.

Dear Tran,

Need remove 270V zener if with 2SA1486/2SC3840?

Thanks!

Pal

If you are using the 2sa1486, then no 270v zeners.

Thank you!

You need to jumper the 270V zeners, not just leave them out.  The Vishay 0 ohm "resistors" are good for this.  Wire also works but insulation would be nice.

Wouldn't be the first time just this past minute...  :)

spritzer, thanks for your comments.

Got the heat sinks in today.  Here's how it's going to lay out...

Just wonder if Kerry may make them tighter, and put them in chassis like densen's amp will looking cool .

We could also make the options a bit clearer with a picture of the boards and what should be populated for +/-500V, +/-450V, global feedback only, no servo etc.

NO. The 270 volt zener is to protect the 400v pnp transistor. if that is the one you are using.

you can leave it in circuit for the 600v transistor.  you short it out for the simpler version of the power supply.

Ahh yes, better leave them in then.  Been spending too much time lately walking people though the simplified PSU...

If using a matched pair 2SK170 rather than LSK389, should the pair be thermally coupled?  If so, is thermal grease and shrink wrap sufficient (assuming they are close enough on the board)?
