  4. For a gift my mother bought me tickets to the Cursed Child play, which is coming to SF this fall. I had never read the books or seen the movies so I figured it was time pick them up from the library and see what the deal was with the cultural phenomenon I basically bypassed. I'm through the first three books. I can now see why people like them. They are well done, entertaining, and super accessible. While they won't go on my list of favorite books they have been more than good enough for me to finish the series.

  5. @TMoney: Try to finish the series and take a few weeks off from Harry Potter before seeing (or reading) Cursed Child. It's... different. In a good way IMO, but it's still good to let the main story settle in your mind before you jump into it.

  6. I couldn't find a thread to post this to, so here's a new thread. So UPS failed to deliver a package yesterday, just before the long Easter weekend - so now I won't get it until Tuesday next week. Bastards. I thought I'd sign up for real time tracking. I'm taken to a page to set up to get this, and find a tick box that says "I confirm that I've been given enough time to read and understand the UPS Technology Agreement" So I thought I'd click the download button to have a look at it. 96 pages. Doing a word count, it is 58,887 words long Which is almost exactly twice the length of the longest Shakespeare play (Hamlet)! That has to be the outer edge of ridiculous, right? How many lawyers does it take to craft a 58,887 word document? Goes without saying that I did not sign up to their "service".....

  8. Yes, it's better. Better output transistors and more powerful transformer mounted off of the PCB (less noise). Also, the tubes we had at ATL were a miss--match with the amp configuration at the time. I think it sounds very, very close to the T5 from the year before: maybe a tad less soundstage, but better tonality, deeper bass with the same microdetail up top. At the same time, Doug's design with the PCB and packaging - especially the thermal bar - means the entire amplifier is much more robust than the T3. This is the guts of the production version:

  9. I can’t chat for some reason. Probably a good thing, I was extra chatty last week.
