OK, turns out I can make it and my loving hubby has given me the ok. Just wanted to make sure I am still invited before making flight reservations (pretty please). Planning to come in on Friday afternoon and leave on Sunday evening. Sound good? (There are a lot of reward travel flights available right now so I don't want to wait too long.)
That sounds mighty good. Just got back from dinner where I had pistachio crusted goat cheese cakes, braised bonleess beef shortribs, beets whipped with potatoes (aka "winter mashed potatoes"), sauteed spinach, and Nieto Malbec.
I have a question for the camera experts. I wanted to upgrade my p&s (Panasonic ZS3). I was thinking of getting a Micro 4/3" (GF1 with pancake lens). However, it is still pretty large and has no zoom or image stabilization. So that got me looking at the LX5 which is slightly cheaper. I looked into the S95 but between the two, I think I would go for the LX5. Any reason that I should go for the GF1 over the LX5 (besides the obvious bigger sensor, etc.)? I would probably carry this around with me everywhere in a small messenger type bag or backpack. I also have a D90 but don't carry it around with me that often for obvious reasons.
I am happy to have a 5 guys here (in fact I went there yesterday on my way to Micro Center to check out the current lineup of Macbook Pros and Air). However, I just don't see the market for them in the west. I would take In and Out over 5 guys anyday! I really cannot even imagine myself eating a McD's burger at this point in my life so I'll have to disagree with that comparison.
Am I correct that the dimensions of the GF-1 after the 20mm lens will be around 4.7in w x 2.8in h x 2.4in d?
The camera seems to be 1.4in in deep and the lens 1 in deep. But maybe it is more like 2.0in because the 1.4in counts the parts that sticks out to hold onto? I cannot really find this anywhere.
Yeah, I plan to only use the pancake lens as I want it as "pocketable" as possible. Actually, now I am starting to wonder if the NEX-5 with the pancake lens might be better since it is actually smaller than the GF1. I do like that you can tilt the screen also. Anyone use both the NEX-5 and GF1?
The NEX-5 seems to not get as good reviews as the GF1 (at least this was my interpretation but I having been paying that much attention to reviews). Plus, I like the look of the GF1 better.
