  6. I just looked into that option. And indeed this will cost a lot less (around $50). I just hope this will (the adapter) keep the sound at a the same quality level as the one I was looking for with a converter. Thanks for your suggestions. Amicalement
  7. Yes but I dont think it will work with the Ack Dack. Amicalement
  8. OK you win.... But I'm still wondering if the iMac I will buy next month will benefit from such a costly converter if I want to use it with my Ack Dack 2.0 I like this dac but a $500. converter seems a bit over the top unless there is no real gain from these higher level converters. Just wondering. Amicalement
  9. Thanks......but after reading the linked thread I learned only one interesting fact: Justin is working on a similar device.... Amicalement
  10. Yes another USB converter.... I have an easy one for you: do these USB converters are that truly different from each other? I mean are they realy on different levels if you compare the ones you can find used like the affordable RedWine Audio to the crazy expensive Empirical stuff? I like the Canto presentation but at $500 (US) this need to be good. Thanks in advance. Amicalement

  16. I'm not a USA resident but USPS has certainly a service with a signed confirmation of your letter delivery. Dont forget, if you fall into the client profile who is still keeping some $ before SP send you the items scenario, they'll probably ignore your letter since they have probably under Colorado law the right to keep the repaired/upgraded items until they receive all the money. If you aren't under any obligation to send more money, and they still keep your items, you have a green light. Good luck. Amicalement
  17. What a mess..... As I wrote, the customers under the profile 1 (the ones that are waiting for their already upgraded/repaired amp in exchange for $) there's hope for mediation. But now for the customers under the profile 2 (the ones with no upgraded/repaired done yet to their amp + no obligation to send $ to SP since they are simply waiting for the amp to come back) they should consider this: They must create a time limit with documentation (ex. one month). This document has to express the owner intention to abort any project (repair or upgrade) and tell in clear terms that the amp must be return to the owner at the end of the time limit. When this time delay will come to an end they could have a starting block to explore the criminal law scenario. With a group of individuals in the same situation chances are that the local police could start an investigation. Amicalement
  18. I'm not trying to say that SP has to agree if it has no desire to do so. I'm thinking about 2 differents kind of customers: 1) The ones with an amp that all upgrades/repairs have been paid for. For them the outcome is more problematic. SP has the amp and the money is probably gone already. And you're right the "sue me" response is available to SP. 2) But for the ones who haven't paid the remaining balance for the same services I cant imagine SP isn't interested to access this new source of cash. Can the customers nail SP to the ground and impose their solution? The answer is clearly no. But the SP thirst for new $ could probably be use the way I was referring. Amicalement
  19. I dont know the Colorado legal context but it's probably not that easy. In general terms the repair man has a right to keep the item until the $ is paid. But I dont think a transfer of onwnership will operate the facto from a customer who is unwilling to pay. They will be most certainly another step before that. Amicalement
  20. What do you have in mind when you write "something happens"? SP has still a warranty obligation for the repair/upgrade but is certainlay not responsable for any mishandling of the amp in the parking lot. From the moment the amps are out of the SP doors the amps are under full responsability of the owner unless the relation between the representative and the amp owner has provisions of the effect that the hired representative is assuming this responsability. In that latter case this intermediate will have to insure itself from that reponsability and redirect the cost to the amp buyer. Amicalement
  21. Let suppose we have 5 outside customers willing to pay X amount of $ in exchange for their amps. They wont send the $ because they dont trust the amp builder anymore. On the other side you have an amp builder who has the amp in his hands but is unwillng to send the amps before receiving payment. The law is on his side (for the most part) and until the gets the $ he has probably no obligation send the amps (he has repaired/upgraded) back. Could you tell me why the owners cant send a hired representative from Denver to check the amps and pay for the items on condition that the exchage of $ will be followed by SP giving it back to the guy hired by the amp owners? Amicalement PS: looking to translate the legal expression "arbitrage commercial" in English....
  22. I firmly believe that he's willing to find a way out of this situation. As I just wrote, I'm of the opinion that he can't shipp before receiving $ as strongly the clients would be complete idiots to sent $ before receiving their amps. In a case like this noboby will make a move and it's completely normal. The light at the end of the tunnel is lying in mediation comming from a third party located in Denver. SP want $ + clients wanting their amps + mistrust on both sides= mediation. Amicalement
