The very interesting ones never make it to the general public. Unless you know the owners of these places and are registered on their good customers secret list. Amicalement

This is right on the money Sir. On realy rare occasions I find what I'm looking for in CDs stores unless they tell me that my order has arrived... The ultimate downside of this...the price is generally up, realy up when you live by that strategy. Amicalement

Against my best judgement I'll try to translate my position in English... I was minding my own business until I read a mod very agressively accusing the scammed members of not taking the first steps toward their own protection. In short the members were not respecting the buyer beware principle. In that case, the weakness of the feedback update protection system was obvious and had led many members to fall in that jerk trap long after the mod staff knew about the first scamming operations. I'm usually a nice guy but when Highwaystar started lecturing me about my unwanted interventions, I lost part of my cool and simply began asking general legal questions that were lacking in the Head-Fi review of that case. Two of many examples: When a member has already been reported as a muti-scams offender to the mods, and despite the fact that the buyer beware is always in effect, do a website can let this member run freely because the administrators think it's best to let the flow of communications with his numerous past victims untouched? Knowing that, is it possible to negate any involvement just by referring to a member obligation to protect himself? I think you know my answers.... On a more positive note, they are acting more strongly these days. Amicalement

If I remember correctly, and I do, this whole mess was the origin of my first ''not so nice'' private/public encounter with their mod. staff.... To this day, and strangely enough, I'm sort of proud of my 6 months ban for standing up against their legal interpretation of the buyer beware principle in that specific case.... Amicalement

I made a promise so here it is : The Premiata Forneria Marconi new show Stati Di Immaginazione was in town last night. How was it? It depends on what you were looking for. If we are very enthousiastic at the idea of paying big bucks for old icons ( yep 600 bucks for 2 tickets for last summer Leonard Cohen ) or for elderly jazz players/singers, we are usually a lot more anxious about doing the same for what I can call gerontorock…. Let me get this out of the way. The evening went OK but the playlist was a bit off the marks. I dont usually go see a group with the firm intention of listening to the old CDs I already have and probably know better than the artist himself. But if you are a living reference in the progrock music you must face a sad reality : they are there to ear live, hopefully and foolishly I may add, all the littles notes there’s on your greatest albums. On that front last night PFM obviously did not shared this objective with the audience. Franco Mussada is still a more than excellent guitar player, Patrick Djivas is still a solid bass player and Franz Di Cioccio is still anoying the Hell out of me with his bad habit of trying to dance as if he was Ian Anderson missing italian medieval twin brother… The show was using a lot of background films/videos/graphic art that were evidence that you can try to get your inspiration from multimedia artist all you want but the end result is that the fans will probably loose focus on the music. Apparently there’s only one Pink Floyd. On a weird humorous sidenote : there is something so funny to watch Di Cioccio stopping and running back to the frontstage trying to keep it’s cool and grabbing his lenses before hammering his drums. Is PFM 2008 concert still a must see event? It depends on what you’re looking for. You want to relive the old classic stuff like a PBS rock nostalgia special? In that case the show is not for you unless Chocolate Kings is your oldest CD. Dont get me wrong I dont blame them, I would do the same after so many decades and would also take some distances with the golden age of my catalogue. But when I write distance I dont mean leaving all the good stuff on the ocean other side. Amicalement

Nice place for an old timer prog. artist. As I wrote earlier in that thread I was dead center in the first rows.... The show? It was the first time I saw Peter Hammill since his severe cardiac problems. Essentially his solo performance was a two parts with piano in the first and guitar in the second part. And yes ( I saw PH so many times in the past ) the usual despair was at the rendez-vous.... The voice is still as rich as in the past with so emotional nuances that it's realy quite impressive. One last observation about these old artists willing to face new generations (and of course old ones) of fans. There is so little of these who are still offering a large part of their show based on recent songs composed with obvious skills and are easily challenging the first part of their carreer. Just for that I'm willing to go back if he wants to give us the chance to see him on stage one more time. Amicalement PS Not a place for the ladies since almost all his r

Row F, seat 1.....) Amicalement PS I dont know if this will be your first show at the Palais Moncalm since it's recent renovation but anything in front of us is to low from the scene level. In short we are in the perfect zone. Sound wise it's nothing short of amazing...much better than Stax....

I have done my part with the girlfriend female jazz vocalists preference a few times recently (including Stacey Kent) now it's my turn: I have tickets for Peter Hammill in two weeks and if I survive the usual despair induced from his show I also have tickets for Premiata Forneria Marconi next month. Pizza anyone? Amicalement
