  5. double espresso to chase away cobwebs of party last night. then: wrote, while monitoring torrents... ;-) shopped for lunch and dinner. went back to work after a light lunch. gave up around 5 to head to the pool, cooked dinner (roast figs with provolone and prosciutto, glazed pork chops, roasted fingerlings with himalayan pink salt and white truffle oil, pecan pie). wine, robert fripp vs brian eno, up loud - voila.
  6. can I join that round robin of weekly trials pleez?

  9. woke up early in a panic about work I submitted way late last night. indeed, I had to redo some of it... decided to jump in the pool after successfully fixing most of the problems. astounding vietnamese lunch with colleagues, then haggled over fruit but ended up buying a garden plant. more work at home, blasting brian eno on the big planars. movie and dinner double date, including two pints of yummy english chocolate stout (yuengling) and the most decadent duck fat fries...

  12. nursing sunburn, rushed through insane amounts of office work (powered by headphones, of course...), almost caught up with things, then another onslaught of new stuff, like a tsunami - and august is supposed to be slow... therefore, took a break to fix two shelves in a closet. picnic lunch, pick up kids, drop off kids (phew!), more work. bought plane tickets for family trip. managed to sneak a short round of Lost Planet on the xbox before setting the dinner table. mixed some drinks. getting ready to fire up a movie...
  13. Bach: The Art of the Fugue, BWV 1080 - Juilliard String Quartet (iMod fed WA3+ to DT880)
  14. surely someone here has a W4S amp by now? please share impressions, I'm tempted to try their new pre or even an integrated...
  15. er... WA3+ on the way... wondering whether the Audeze planar speakers, once out, will work on this one...

  17. any pointers about where to look, while in shanghai, for what kind of audio gear? any ideas welcome... thanks in advance
  18. short version: grab'em! long version: I have the MMGs as well as a pair of 2.5Rs. the MMGs are really nice, not just "for the price" nice but really nice. only thing you'll miss, depending on your playlist, might be deepest bass (I use a small sub that I can dial in if that's desired, but usually keep it out, in both rigs). as for a budget amp, the Outlaw RR2150 (internet deal) has juice and sounds good, has lots of inputs (even a middling USB DAC), though the headphone out blows. it's been reviewed well, too. I have neighbors with Maggies who keep trying to make me move to tubes, which is said to be good - but you need the current too, so that would be a pricey tube amp. not ready for that hit quite yet (the Bel Canto amp that powers the 2.5Rs does fine...)
