  1. Thanks. I just read a post from Paul McGowan on PS Audio's forums that suggests keeping the volume above 50%. My assumption is that this relates more to the fidelity/accuracy of the volume control than just volume.
  2. So it sounds like it is safe to say PWD >>> Bel Canto DAC3 as a DAC. Anyone know how either does as a preamp at low volumes?
  3. What have you been using? I've been using a Powertap for 4 months or so and I'm pretty happy except for the fact that the computer eats batteries. I'm looking forward to the Mertrigear power meter scheduled to come out later this year.
  4. - Naim Nait 3R (I've always liked the look of the Olive series) - new DA 7800 cranks, Michelin Pro3 tires, Skins compression socks (Chris you need to try these)
  5. ^Two damn good albums Me: Black Prairie Feast of The Hunters' Moon
  6. Has anyone done a large amount of typing on the keyboard yet? I was hoping to make it to a store today to check it out but didn't get a chance.
  7. Stock with 'Native' paint. Pretty rare actually. Slightly used but this way I avoid the ~2 year wait. I'll have it built up next weekend
  8. I caved to bike lust: Pegoretti Deunde
  9. That would be mine. I bought it here from Randerson3024 (Bob). I'll give you a deal if you're interested.
  10. My first rig was a Marantz SA8001 + ESW10s. Then I added a Woo Audio WA6. This was the next rig:
  11. If we were looking to stay in our house for a while I would have gone with one of these: A. O. Smith Water Heaters I ended up installing a standard State (A.O. Smith rebranded) gas tank. ~82% efficiency. Cheaper than a tankless, about the same efficiency (maybe slightly lower) but we don't have a very high demand/throughput for hot water and would probably have not offset the cost savings in our current house.
  12. Now I'm researching tankless vs high efficient tank. Aura, what are you installing?
  13. I came home last night to a leaking hot water heater, so now I'm waiting for the plumber to arrive.
  14. Using Handbrake I can get a 1 hr 50 min (in this case Snatch) to be ~500 MB range. Of course the resolution will be different for the iPad but I don't know if the file size will scale 2x and be 1GB for a ~2 hr movie. I agree with you on the memory. 32 GB minimum for me. I really wish my iPhone was 32 GB...
  15. Can someone translate this for me. From TUAW.com Does this mean you can order books before the iPad ships and they will be pre-installed? Or are iBooks going to be free for a little while?
  16. CAT-up is the easiest way to avoid crashes in a race. I thought about a TT bike at one point but then I just used TT races for training. Sure you don't look as cool on a "normal" bike but the damn race doesn't last long anyway I'm done buying audio gear too. I scheduled a full fit session on Sunday to get my Colnago dialed in. Time to really get back in the saddle. Work be damned! My brother in-law did that with a steel frame and it wasn't pretty. I can't imagine what the CF would look like We really need a cycling thread ....
  17. Thought about a fixed gear? I had my main bike, a backup and a fixed gear. The backup never got used. The fixed gear was when I really wanted to punish myself. Made me a much better rider though. Also, can be much cheaper than a full backup geared bike.
  18. I need to buy some Toe ... For Me: Liam Finn - I'll be lightening
  19. Yup, first time. Not sure how I've dodged it before.
  20. So what color knob is everyone getting on their Slim? :palm:
  21. Nice. I'm sure NAHBS was amazing.
  22. The A5s come with all the cables she'll need. For the Quads she'll need a mini to stereo RCA adapter and long ICs, assuming she uses the iPod volume control which would be easier since the Quads have separate volume controls on the back of the speakers.
  23. We have one of these: Meet George - an iPod docking music system with full function remote Very minimalist style and the remote menu is just like an Ipod. It comes with a separate charger for the remote or you can dock it in the main unit. Doesn't sound as good as A5s but thats the trade-off for the style and small footprint.
