  1. Thats BS, the CS4398's in my modded sacd 1000 are delta-sigma dacs and as anyone who has heard it can attest it sounds anything but icky . As with most things in audio I think piss poor implementation has a lot to do with the negative talk you hear about them.
  2. I've thought about getting into vinyl a few times of the past year or so but everytime I think about I realize the monetary and time costs for me are just not worth it. I don't want to spend hours and hours searching for cheap vinyl and would probably end up getting fed up with that and just buying everything new which would in most cases cost 2-3 times the price of the CD. That and all the hassles of keeping the records clean and making sure the table is setup right outweigh any positives that could come from better sound quality.
  3. From the specs it looks pretty good, and I've really been liking the pcm1704 dac lately. Thats what is in my Opus 21...
  4. I have heard the hf-1s and they are a nice deal for their original price, but I sure as heck wouldn't pay $400 let alone $900. Hopefully this was just a joke, otherwise the guy is completely insane.
  5. Here's a few pics of the adapter: 6bl7gta vs adapter 5687 vs adapter
  6. Well the soundstage is larger compared to the 5687s but that was expected. So far they sound pretty nice . Btw I'll take some close-up shots of the adapters later today as I know you wanted some detailed pics of them.
  7. And you guys thought the slam looked funny with just the plitron..... Those are the 9-pin to octal socket adapters with GE 6bl7gta's.
  8. The DAC-60 has interested me for awhile, maybe one of these days I'll check it out.
  9. For the more technically inclined members... how would something like this be: This for Voltage Regulation http://www.tripplite.com/products/product.cfm?productID=208 and this for an Isolation transformer http://www.tripplite.com/products/product.cfm?productID=231 I can get both for under $400.
  10. Lucky you . The speaker bug bit me pretty hard, I went from GMA Europas and a Parasound A23 to Tyler Acoustic Linbrook Sigs and the PrimaLuna Prologue Six monoblocks in a period of like 4 months
  11. You need to get into speakers first, the bunnies demand it
  12. God I hate the power in my house, it's been hot out the past few days so all the neighborhood AC's are going strong. According to the UPS on my PC its input voltage is a whopping 102 right now
  13. Voltage and current bias need to be bumped up a bit . Oh yeah and some 5687-octal socket adapters so you can pop in some 6bl7's.
  14. Yeah they have been fine so far, the amp was on about 8-10 hours every day over the weekend with no problems at all.
  15. Hehe . I'm sure you'll get one someday. I should get my octal adapters today or tomorow then I'll give a pair of 6bl7gta's a shot as the output tubes. The voltage is set higher than the stock 300V on my amp, doesn't seem to affect the 5687s much although it wouldn't surprise me if it'll knock some hours off their lifetime. The increased voltage should be great for the bl7gta's though

    Pretzel Forum!!

Pretzels do make the world go round in an indirect way. You see Bunnies eat pretzels, and lots of them and as you know the Bunnies are proliferating and taking over the world. The pretzels are just coming along for the ride as bunny fuel.
  17. Don't feel like starting my own thread yet so heres a pic of my slightly different than stock Slam PPX3 that arrived on saturday:
  18. This is one sickness I'll be glad to avoid, luckily my lazyness will stop me from ever getting into vinyl.
  19. You could also just get quicktime alternative: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm
