This is actually a pretty common occurence in our hobby and the audio world in general. In the Zhalou's case the fact that it is so cheap means that the majority of its owners probably haven't heard anything better. Of course that doesn't give them any reason to defend it like they do, but I think that is why they do it. We actually saw a very similar thing happen with the E5 just at a higher budget level. I think most people who bought that early during its FOTM time had never heard a player costing $1k before so of couse it automatically became the best player under $1k. Somewhere along the line that turned into people saying its the best under $2k, and even $3k. Now I've heard the E5 a few times and for under $1k it is one of the better players around but it doesn't hold a candle to either of my cdps. Not even close. I imagine when I hear the Zhalou it will be a similar experience, good for the money and nothing more.

The August 5th Cincinnati, OH meet will be held at the Rohs Street Cafe start time is about 10am but myself or EdipisReks will probably be there as early as 9am if you wish to come early to setup. If you are planning to attend please post the gear you'll be bringing in this thread or PM to me and I'll keep a list going in this post. We're trying to make this a pretty large meet so if you can think of anyone that might be interested in attending feel free to invite them. Where are the pictures? I'm borrowing a pair of W5K's and I really agree with your statements about them being open and airy and that they tend to be light in the bass department. For my tastes I prefer a warmer and fuller sound so they really aren't headphones I'd ever consider buying. However I think fans of the dt880 and k701 sound would find the W5000 to be the perfect headphones. IMO they share sonic traits of those phones but with more definition and refinement.

Audio Technica headphone question -- closest to leatherhead?

I have an extra set of L3000 drivers, and no you can't have them -

Honestly none of the current production AT's have a sound signature similar to the L3000. They aren't current production but if you can find a pair of W11JPN's they share a pretty similar signature for a lot less money. The W5000 are much closer to the W1000 and W2002 sound -
FYI, I actually did end up adding a feature. When you are in a thread you should now see a "search topic" button. Should be handy for anyone wanting to search for something specifically in the thread they are viewing.

Have some patience I'm adding the themes back now. The new features will have to wait as the integrated portal I wanted to install is still buggy as hell. Oh also any avatars that were uploaded are lost.
-
There will be a bit of downtime tonight as I install a few new features and change a few things around. Yeah yeah I know it's such a pain in the ass for you guys but you'll live . Plus it'll be better in the long run for Headcase.

For anyone interested I found another similar option to the above Tripplite UPS. http://www.opti-ups.com/ups_detail.phtml?product_id=69 Appears to be pretty similiar to the tripplite unit but has more power for less money...

Yeah exemplar does offer balanced outs on the 3910 and 5910. Price for the balanced 3910 is $5600.

Being in the software industry and with most of our customers being developers we don't run into that many stupid customers but man today I think we found a nominee for retard of the year. We recieved an email from a customer that was having problems placing an order on our website, the first thing I do is check the credit card processing log to see if the card was rejected. Low and behold it was but the funny part is that he tried to place the order 14 times with the following in the "card holder name" field: platinum Pplatinum Mastercard Master card platinum

Haha, it won't be that bad. I'd expect the DAC to start shipping in august most likely. The transport won't ship till early next year apparently.

Laptop Scroll Bar Won't Work With Opera?
tkam replied to en480c4's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
What version of opera are you running? I'm running one of the Opera 9 beta versions and the scroll pad on my Inspiron E1705 works fine with it. -
They've been cleaning it up since around feb/march when he hired a full time customer service guy.

General rule of thumb for work, if you don't know all your co-workers and don't have a place where you can lock up your stuff don't take it to work. It sucks I know especially in the case of being able to have music with you at work, but its better to not take it to work than to have some jackass steal it.

In case anyone didn't see it: PITTSBURGH -- On Thursday, Ben Roethlisberger released a statement regarding his motorcycle accident: "In the past few days, I have gained a new perspective on life. By the grace of God, I am fortunate to be alive, surrounded by loved ones and lifted by the prayers and support of so many. I am sorry for any anxiety and concern my actions have caused others, specifically my family, the Steelers organization, my teammates and our fans. I recognize that I have a responsibility to safeguard my health in the off-season so I can continue to lead our team effectively. I never meant any harm to others nor to break any laws. I was confident in my ability to ride a motorcycle and simply believed such an accident would not happen to me. If I ever ride again, it certainly will be with a helmet. My deepest appreciation goes out to the Steelers organization and my teammates for the compassion they have shown me. The physicians and support staff at Mercy Hospital were simply amazing, and I will forever be grateful for their caring treatment. I want to assure everyone I am committed to a complete and timely recovery. I look forward to being at training camp in Latrobe and to winning football games this season." Looks like he'll only miss 2-3 weeks of training camp, you should now be able to hear the collective sigh of relief from Steeler fans across the country

Nice!! Let us know how it is.

I've tried both types in my modded philips and to my ear they do sound identical. You are also correct that the only apparent difference are the build years. How much isolation do the K81DJ provide? They could be a nice pair of phones for use at work for me.
