  1. Yeah I was aware of their history when I bought it, however it has the newer supposedly fixed chips but I found out later that apparently those still have some issues as well. Oh well I can't complain really, with all mods it has the price wasn't bad and it sounds damn amazing.
  2. One of the reasons I have two sources is because of the less than stellar reliability history of the SACD 1000. Luckily I haven't had an problems with it yet. I've thought about possibly selling my two sources at some point and just getting one, but I kinda like have two sources and I think it'd be a challenge to get decent money for the sacd 1000.
  3. Well they've now said that the knee injuries aren't severe. I guess we'll find out when an official statement comes.
  4. Here's the latest report from a local TV station: "According to a police source, Roethlisberger suffered a broken jaw, broke his left sinus cavity, suffered a 9-inch laceration to the back of his head, lost many teeth and has severe injuries to his knees from hitting the pavement."
  5. Early reports so far is that he has a broken jaw, and its also rumored he has a fractured eye socket and that he banged up his knees.
  6. http://www.wpxi.com/sports/9356102/detail.html Guess thats what he gets for not wearing a helmet, but pretty much the entire city of Pittsburgh is holding its breath hoping he'll be alright.
  7. Thats one ugly looking amp

    GS-1000's Arrived

Few more thoughts now that I've had them for a few days. The imaging and seperation are extremely good, that along with their bass are the GS-1000s main strenghts. Their next best asset is their detail retrival which I think is probably unparalled in the $1k and under price range. The bass is also very good, it has the immediacy and snap of the hp1000 bass and goes pretty deep. I have noticed though that the treble can get a bit "tinny" and almost harsh at louder listening levels. It does seem to be pretty recording dependent, but it is more of an issue at higher listening levels. The GS-1000 do have a bit of a midrange deficiency, in particular the upper midrange isn't as prevelant as it is in the RS-1s. In my mind instead of having too much midrange bloom like the RS-1s these are kind of the opposite as they fall just short of having enough.

    GS-1000's Arrived

Hmm interesting, I don't think I could take any pads that put the drivers much closer to my ears. I think the treble would just be too much at that point.

    GS-1000's Arrived

While I agree that the midrange is more recessed compared to other current Grados I actually think it is more in balance with the rest of the spectrum.

    GS-1000's Arrived

Hehe I like to feel things go BOOM when I'm watching movies . Anyways back to the GS-1000 thoughts.... The midrange, I think this will be what makes people love or hate these. If you want the midrange bloom that the RS-1's have I wouldn't bother with the GS-1000s they just don't have it. If your looking for a more linear midrange though the GS-1000s could be the ticket. Although I do think it is a bit recessed compared to the rest of the frequency spectrum.

    GS-1000's Arrived

I'll be using by Resolution Audio Opus 21 and APL Philips SACD1000 for sources and my Slam PPX3 as the amp. What amps have you been having problems with??

    GS-1000's Arrived

Thats not my desk, thats my subwoofer
  14. Well my pair of gs1000s arrived today. One of my largest complaints with Grados has always been comfort or for me total lack of comfort. I don't think I've ever been able wear Grados before without my ears starting to hurt after an hour. The GS-1000's solve this problem and are the first Grados I've been able to wear for extended periods of time without any discomfort. So for me the comfort is a big plus, I wonder what took them so long but at least they figured it out. Few observations about their sound so far... Soundstage is big for Grados I'm not convinced its that big compared to other headphones though. I think what might be giving people that impression is their extremely good instrument seperation and placement. The GS1000 are very resolving headphones, I feel bad for anyone using these with a crappy source and/or amp. If you have any weaknesses in your system they will make it very apparent and then whack you over the head with them. It's still early on, but I think they have some real promise. Here's a few bad pictures for now, I really need to get a camera that has a real lens, oh and a tripod would help too.
  15. Ok so it sounds like SACD is a must, any problems buying modded or used players? Any idea of a budget?
  16. Can I have your O2s? I think your selling digital a little short, the DV-50 is a fine player but I think in terms of audio performance you can do better (maybe even substantially so) for less money and certainly for more money.
  17. I believe August 5th is the Cinci meet.
  18. I've heard them a few times and I think it was the 120 ohm version. I agree with Reks thoughts on thinking they were grainy, but I will add that I thought they were pretty dull sounding headphones. But hell almost everything is dull compared to the l3ks
  19. That would probably be me
  20. Don't make me drop my monoblocks on your foot.
  21. Thats BS, the CS4398's in my modded sacd 1000 are delta-sigma dacs and as anyone who has heard it can attest it sounds anything but icky . As with most things in audio I think piss poor implementation has a lot to do with the negative talk you hear about them.
