My O2 mk1 now has new pads, new headband, and a new arc assembly. The only thing keeping this O2 from being essentially mint is that I scratched/dinged the metal trying to remove that fucking headband. :faceplam: These marks are very minor and are noticeable/material only to crazies like us, but they're there. Dos anyone have experience with minor repair/touch-ups on the metal part? Is it even possible to touch up? And I'm also considering the pad swap because a) I'm curious and I think the mk2 pads are more comfy.

Well, gang, it now appears with a relative degree of certainty that I will not be able to attend. I am deeply disappointed, as I very much want to hang out and catch up with this group. With the understanding that we are in speculation mode, what say ye with more expertise than I about the power of this new amp compared to the GES? And further, are there any readily-apparent sonic drawbacks here?

Hot damn! Good for Jack. Bad for my wallet. I'm kicking myself for forgetting this, but I think you're in the ballpark. Yup, and he acknowledged that it needed to have some balls. I forget the price, but I distinctly remember not hearing it go that high. Of course, that was then this is now. But I hope Woo Audio makes a smart move here and prices on the low side. I'm going to guess that it's removable. I discussed with Jack the problems that little monkeys present with tube gear and he said he knew it was a problem and had some ideas.

I finally switched out the arc assembly on the O2. Let me tell you, that was a pain in the ass. But now my O2 smells all leathery instead of smoky. In retrospect, I probably should have sold this pair and waited to get a mint O2, but now everything is new, so I guess that's cool. A question: I often see the O2 on stands hanging by the headband. Wouldn't it make more sense to hang the O2 by the arcs? It would seem that the stress would be better placed there than on the elastic of the headband. Am I missing something?

Jacob, did you fix your jack? Also, as an alternative to using the optical jack, I suppose I could use the coax, but would need to get an optical-to-coax converter. Are those things bad for SQ?
