  1. Any ideas on how to install a recessed toggle switch like this one?
  2. Couldn't help myself. On a serious note, it does not sound like a good idea.
  3. Thanks Horio. I did pay attention to your post on the "help me build my kgsshv" thread on hf. Interesting thread to say the least. Did you apply the Conformal coating spray to yours?
  4. I used a 3.6 mm chisel tip for the heatsinks.
  5. No kidding! I have a Hakko 936. Even at 800F is hard. I spent a lot of time today going over all the solder points with a magnifying glass. Will double check and triple check the components tomorrow.
  6. Here are my stuffed boards. I used PEEK screws, but not sure if nylon washers with metal nuts are OK. The heat sinks are a pain to solder. Will try to fix that tomorrow.
  7. No worries. Your BOM has helped me a lot!
  8. Thanks. I Guess either one should work. The spacing in the PCB is actually 3.5 mm though. that part was not in this BOM though: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?hl=en_US&key=0Aq_FzyStz20hdEE1SDR3Q3JWZU5ydGpjZ2xleDA3M1E&hl=en_US&f=true&noheader=false&gid=1
  9. Is this the capacitor that fits C12, C14 in the PSU? 100uF/50V EEU-HD1H101B
  10. x2 Victor Chew's request. I have been taking my time researching, buying parts, and stuffing the boards. Not to mention extremely helpful tips and posts from Horio, Blubliss, JohnMcClean and LilKnight, amongst others.
  11. I was looking at the way the amplifier boards were mounted by Greg and Andy. It seems to me Andy's way may be easier to service if any troubleshooting or desoldering is needed.
  12. I see the jumper bypasses the pieces that can be omitted. I am wondering if there are any problems if said pieces are installed, some or all. (I already installed D12 and D13 although no big deal I can remove them.Just curious though.
  13. For the 500V power supply, my understanding is that the 15K and 787K resistors are not used. Do I use the .22 uF/1000V capacitors for the 500V PS or leave them empty? I know the 3900 pF is optional.
  14. Did you try AMB Audio site? http://www.djgardner.com/headphone/gilmore/ http://www.amb.org/shop/
  15. The reason I asked is I thought Andy used thermal compound. At least that's what it looks like in his pictures.
  16. Thank you cobra. I think I may end up gong with the off board heatsinks, not sure yet. Are the ceramic pads (532-4170) needed for the FQPF8N80C large heatsinks or only for the small heatsinks in the PSU?
  17. Nicely done Tyll. I was amazed at the insane amount of bad bass in some of the graphs.
  18. Cobra, would you mind posting the files for the FPE panels?
  19. I love the Sigma. It can at times be a little boomy but the mids are just wonderful. I know measurements are difficult to compare, but between 100-1K both the normal bias and Sigma404 have a hump, somewhat more pronounced on the normal bias. Comparing graphs, the normal bias Sigma has a drop between 2K-4K Hz, but the Sigma404 stays flat. The normal bias Sigma climbs between 6K and 10K but the Sigma404 is relatively flat. I will defer to the experts on the meaning of these differences. StaxSRSigma07381.pdf
  20. The Stax Sigma 07381 is indeed a Sigma/404 that Mark from HighEnd WorkShop converted for me in September of this year. (I can see the red rim of the 404 drivers).
