  1. I am also thinking on using a 2U case with my second build like Spritzer did. He did not use the E24 and that saved a lot of space.
  2. I have been to Avignon. Beautiful place. Have driven a car from Lyon winding all the way down to Barcelona. Hope to do it again sometime in the future. So you haven't started your build yet?
  3. Schubert, do you have pictures of the innards?
  4. Great review, Thank you
  5. Actually, after your horror story I decided to go ahead and use it. Not pretty, but nobody is going to open the hood after is done. Victor, I was too sleepy to play with high voltage last night and stopped before measuring bias. I will tonight. EDIT: Bias measures at 580V and then slowly drifts upwards to 587 V and stays there. I figure that would not damage the stators but I am not sure.
  6. Well, the power supply for my second KGSShv powered up without a hitch : -15,+15, -504, +504 I am using the IXYS parts.
  7. Congratulations! Nice and tidy.
  8. We want pictures!
  9. Where did you ground the PSU? I can't see it. Why didn't you just use a star ground? I like how you used terminal blocks for the pot. You used the same XLRs with built in terminal block I used. I like them.
  10. Which BC560 is the correct one for the Megatron? I don't think there is a BOM or a schematic yet. is there? http://www.mouser.co...key512-BC560CTA or this one? http://www.mouser.co...lkey863-BC560CG Also, I assume these ones are correct: http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=KA7812ETUvirtualkey51210000virtualkey512-KA7812ETU and http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=KA7912TUvirtualkey51210000virtualkey512-KA7912TU
  11. How did you ground your xlr connectors? Hard to tell in the picture but the wires don't look right. Welcome to the club! It took me some time to get it right too but now my KGSSHV gets nightly use. The 2 amp fuse has blown a couple of times in my amp too. I now have a dedicated voltage regulator and that seems to help. I never bothered using the thermistor.
  12. I was surprised to see the output current numbers mentioned by Kevin at head-fi. Besides being more fun to build , what advantage sound wise does the KGSSHV have over the KGSS? (Johnwmcclean mentioned his amp sounded better when he increased the output)
  13. PM ME If you need one or 2
  14. Would this one work? http://www.jameco.com/1/1/5263-kbu4m-e4-51-4a-1000v-silicon-bridge-rectifier-diode.html
  15. Oh man, that's terrible! Were they supposed to be cheaper than FPE? FPE did a very good job with my KGSSHV case. I hope you can have it fixed without any more problems.
  16. I'd like to buy 2 sets, may be an extra power supply when they become available. Thanks.
  17. Better highs wold be good for the 007 and Sigmas; would it make the 009 brighter though?
  18. Justin, I'd like to change my request to 100 pieces of 2sa1486 if possible. Thanks. John: that sounds pretty interesting. Would love to compare it with the standard resistors.
  19. I'd be interested in 50 pieces of 2sa1486 also. Thanks
  20. Justin, I would be interested in a few. Also, how about some 2SA1486? S_R, might as well buy enough just in case the first attempt blows up! Seriously, I would buy plenty of parts, especially the ones that could become scarce in the future.
  21. These things keep getting more and more expensive. Fakes? http://www.ebay.com/...=item1c2a47d38f
  22. Yeah, but using the iPad is more fun
  23. This is nothing groundbreaking but if you have an iPad, you can use the free app You Doodle to mark the components as you stuff them.
  24. Just started the on board build today. Not in a hurry since I already have one but did not have the patience to wait for the Megatron
  25. Any news on the Megatron? BTW, never had a chance to test the 1968's I got from EBay but the 2 I tested before my trip were around 1060V
