  1. Holy shit there's two of them now
  2. Oh yes I did find that I had to play the HD650 louder than the L3000 when listening to most music (including metal), the closed nature of the L3000 makes drums and basslines sound a lot better even at lower volumes (and regardless of volume I think they handle macro-dynamics better). And it's my preference to spend the most on the transducer, followed by amp or source (whatever you feel gives you more gains).
  3. I don't think the HD650 changes enough with a good amp if you did find it "insert adjectives". Though the only headphone in production that I can think of that I'd still recommend is the HD650...but if you can afford the L3000 they handle metal (yes I know I only listen to Opeth and Arcturus) and classical "with aplomb".
  4. MOT MOT MOT
  5. Yep I read the manual after I made my post, and I wasn't able to edit it. Thanks for the clarification. aerius ygpm on these amps, don't want to further derail
  6. Wow that didn't make any sense, ignore that To do: get more sleep
  7. So the 6N1P is really a tits driver for the 300B? That's two amps I see that are using it that you say are high end. What makes it better than a 6DJ8 driver? Perhaps it's just that I've read nothing but bad stuff about Russian tubes.
  8. My post was light hearted with the Head-Case "pffft". I don't think they're that great, just my opinion.
  9. Is that what you're handing out for Halloween tonight?
  10. Were the R10 really that good? pfft
  11. You really don't need to. IMO purely based off technical merit I would rank them Omega 2 >= (or equal to, depends I guess) L3000 >>>> K340 (both my pairs, opposite versions). And I heard bloated bass on the SR-404 and Lambda Pro. It was definitely better on the Lambda (regular bias) but I'd need to spend more time with them to be sure.
  12. Minor details...you CD3000 monster
  13. All of the above, though I don't quite know what you mean by depth. I'll just say that I think the L3000 sounds like a dynamic Omega 2 (so you'd more than likely prefer the O2), both have exceptional imaging, and are a tad soft in the highs. The Omega 2 probably has better (or different?) decay, both have very fast attack. The biggest difference being the Omega 2 has more depth to the soundstage, which I do miss with the L3000. But I have the K1000 when I really want that experience (or hopefully some speakers soon!11).
  14. Are you referring to it being fantastic as a headphone amp or speaker amp? Because the headphone out is already flawed with the high output impedence.
  15. IMO L3000 bass > Omegatew
  16. At $4000 it had better not sound bad! For that much money I'd expect it to be amazing.
  17. Mmm, if I get the Duos I'm almost certain I'll dew eat up with the Wavelength amps.
  18. I think aerius would disagree
  19. I wouldn't call the regular Lambda entry level (by that definition wouldn't all vintage be entry level save for the Sigma/Gamma Pro/Omega-1?), it's a damn good headphone IMO better than the SR-404 and Lambda Pro.
  20. I'm not sure if they're still the best but I really like Tayo Yuden, and they're not too expensive: http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-cd-r-media-cdr-media.html I use the white inkjet discs (I find some computer drives have an easier time reading the white label opposed to the silver). Verbatim AZO-Blue are supposed to be really good as well. I have a few of these discs that are at least 6-7 years old that all read fine.
  21. You bastard I could have guessed this one, it was only a matter of time
  22. The crisp text/display on the 89 was so tite when it came out
  23. Thanks Reks
  24. Your setup looks good (the one in regular lighting, not a big fan of the LEDs), I definitely need to get a spider rack.
  25. One of my less proud moments was pushing PSP/PRP plans on people when I worked there *shudder* I guess the PRP was alright since it was a replacement and if it broke in the extended warranty period they just gave you another one or something of equal value. The PSP was always sort of shady, and probably depended more on who the customer service manager was if something was to get done. All of those cocksuckers cared way too much about their damn numbers.
