  1. does anyone else have the issue on their iphone where the typing is r e a l s l o w on web pages like headcase? It makes posting even the shortest messages unbearable.
  2. looks promising. I vote you try it later today when your MBP arrives.

  4. sweet. grats JB! but can iTunes even do FLAC? I was wondering if I was going to have to convert my whole library to ALAC.

  6. Just thought I'd get a pulse on how Mac fans handle their digital music libraries. For example, do you ALAC + iTunes, or do you FLAC + some heretofore unknown program to postjack, or do you bypass all of that with a Squeezebox, etc. Currently on the PC I'm finding the Squeezebox to be the best thing since peanut butter since I don't have to screw with clunky buggy slow foobar (just my experience) or ASIO. Its my understanding that Macs don't need ASIO because Core Audio > kmixer, is this correct?

  8. so I've been in the market for a new laptop for, well since my last one went kaput several months ago. I'm thinking this new Macbook might be just the ticket, if it is indeed a keyboarded Macbook in an aluminum case. If its some lame touch tablet I'll just get a discounted refurb blackbook after the announcement.
  9. you mean until they ah cut off said individual's internet access ah ah.
  10. I agree with the above statement 100%. The recording/mastering/pressing is where it all starts, and no DAC amp or analog output component can save a bad recording. So maybe I should clarify my "i'd never spend $100 on a CD" remark. What I really meant was, I would never pay $100 for a CD, when the same music, same mastering, can be found... ah... elsewhere, and in these elsewhere's, some one who isn't a fine upstanding man like myself might see fit to ah... get a substantial discount on said recording. like a lot of percent discount.
  11. I hunt that sound that burn ya house to the ground, all day 4eva.
  12. Well I'm totally uninterested in a keyboardless tablet. I am very interested, however, in an aluminum enclosure on a regular MacBook.
  13. I'd say DCC (Hoffman's now defunct label) is more consistently good then MFSL, but MFSL has tons of winners as well. I would never pay $100 for any CD, however.
  14. yeah, its a damn good record.
  15. Nah, an MMO. I just had go finally admit to myself that I don't have time to play one of these effectively. Cool, I'll look into this.
  16. Yeah, I certainly know where to go fishing for the answer I want. Well I took the new memory out and I'm running fine. I don't think I'm going to worry about putting anything else back in since I only got it for a game I can't seem to get into anyway.
  17. So my computer has started doing this thing where every time I turn it on, after about 5 minutes, give or take a minute, regardless of what I'm doing on the computer, I get a blue screen of death crash and the computer resets. The weird thing is, once it resets and starts up again, its 100% fine, no more crashes. This only occurs when I start my computer from an off state. When I start back up it always gives me the "windows has recovered from a serious error" box. The reason is something to do with bad memory. Indeed I did add some new RAM several weeks back, but I did not start experiencing this until recently. Nevertheless, I've done lots of trouble shooting involving moving the ram around to different slots, and even swapping it out with a newer stick of RAM to no avail. Any thoughts? Also should I buy an iMac?
  18. happy birthday! buy yourself a balancing act.
  19. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/26/arts/music/26griffin.html?_r=1&oref=slogin I only recently discovered his music. He's great.
  20. no kidding. vinyl accessories add up quick.
  21. I disagree a bit here. While I agree eating less will make you lose weight (cal in cal out), I also strongly believe what we eat affects this as well. In short, I stick to the edges of my supermarket and avoid just about anything in the middle. Lots of fresh vegetables, meat, eggs. Avoiding sugar and white carbs (flour). For snacks I usually do peanuts, but lately I've been cutting out snacking (because I'm not hungry between meals as much anymore). The only fluids I take in are water, mineral water, and coffee. Avoiding as best I can anything processed in favor of "food". Working just the edges of the supermarket for just the past three months, I've lost close to 30 pounds. Zero exercise. I am going to start exercising once I hit 200 lbs, and start incorporating fruits into my diet as well. I'm also a supplement taker, but I'm not sure if I'm a supplement believer yet. Regardless, I take a multi with no iron, CoQ-10 enzyme, b complex, fish oil, chromium piccolinate, and l-carnitine,. I only started reading this book a couple weeks ago, but he does a pretty good job of summing up what I've been doing the past few months, and plan on doing from here on out: Amazon.com: In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto: Michael Pollan: Books
  22. interesting idea, but I don't really want to use a DAC with it.
  23. Well I didn't buy it, but since I have a DVD-A player now I'm downloading the 24/96 WAV files to make my own DVD-A.
  24. double meaning!
