  1. i think you should combine dusty and token's columns. TONEPUB is one of the harshest MOT-like posters I've seen on an audio forum. Him and his buddy anachronist have no issues with delving into any given thread and stirring shit up big time. I just think since he is selling a product (albeit a free magazine) he should be a bit more political in choosing the dialogues he participates in. anyway rega for lif. Hey is it really pronounced "REE-ga"? I always thought it was "RAY-ga", like "Sega".
  2. cut refined carbs, refined sugar. stop eating food with ingredients that have suffixes like "-ide". no more high fructose corn syrup! i bet your heartburn will stop. I'm not an MD, but I do have an english degree. very similar IMO.
  3. yeah, the dynamics are great! they are coming to new orleans, but its on a wednesday (2 hour drive). i'd probably still go, even with work, if october wasn't already slammed full of concerts. opeth/baroness/high on fire, phil lesh/allman bros, and two nights of panic for halloween.
  4. fans of vinyl and modern blues revival rock bands need not hesitate to purchase this one. As part of the birthday festivities melody and I sat in the 2ch room and spun this. vinyl has a bit of noise but overall pretty quiet. supposedly the master came from digital, but it still sounds marvelous and analog. not the greatest sound, but still great. and of course the music is fantastic. highly recommended!
  5. Glad to see you here! I honestly never thought you registered. I always wondered if I came on too strong with the "GO REGISTER AT HEADCASE RIGHT AFTER CANJAM YOU DIY NATE WILL TEACH YOU" thing. actually I didn't say nate would teach you but its implied. look, I need as many friendly DIYers as possible to build me fly shit. I shill headcase all day. update: so far its been the best birthday ever.
  6. my quads are the Birdseye maple. While they are beautiful, I wish they were black.
  7. I'll bet it's bright and horrible.
  8. actually I see quad makes a sub that I could get in the same finish as my speakers. They run around a thousand. I might save a bit and go in this direction instead of changing brands. Quad 4 lif!1
  9. I'll teach you how to make crack from cocaine.
  10. oh I'll be eating some tasty morsels tonight no doubt, compliments of my GF. Then I'll spin some steely dan and watch Clinton on the DNC.
  11. anybody heard it? Better yet, let's go OT: how does everyone feel about monitors + sub in a small room? I'm still craving more bass extension then my Quads want to provide. I'm wondering if something like some iQ1s and sub would satisfy my needs.
  12. thanks y'all. The continued existence of this, the best audio site in the Internet, is the best present I could ask for.
  13. Here's something that really grinds my gears: You are on a website looking at products, and you want to get a bigger picture of the product, so you click where it says "Click for larger image". Instead of a larger image, you get the exact same tiny ass image in a new tab. MUSICDIRECT - MUSICAL FIDELITY - X-RAY V8 w - TRIPLE-X POWER SUPPLY
  14. cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson.
  15. or even better, let me know if you want to loan me one so I can write a sweet comparison review.
  16. thanks for your impressions asr. I agree with you on the 22, though I've never heard the gs-x. my next big goal is to compare the HR balanced desktop to the 840C + beta. so y'all let me know if you see one used.
  17. Yeah, you better be like, way into World of Warcraft. Like way into it.
  18. I wonder how it would compare to a Beta 22, since the asking price is around that price range.
  19. Amazon.com: Tonight's the Night [Vinyl]: Neil Young: Music I don't know why this vinyl is $5.68, but I ordered it. I have only recently discovered the greatness of this album. Its one everybody should own, especially if you've ever liked grunge or dark drugged out rock. Amazon.com: Attack & Release: The Black Keys: Music stan ricker half speed mastered LP, comes with "pro" CD. I guess this means its like the CD that came with the Mudcrutch LP.
  20. Hope you got to see Wilco Al, Tweedy puts on a hell of a show.
  21. oh yeah, the redbook will be amazing. the vinyl will be better. I don't slight anyone for buying the SACDs. If I could afford to do both and be happy I would.
  22. Just canceled my subscription. I decided I'd rather cherry pick some of the vinyls then own all the SACDs. I can't afford to do both. Like deepack, I can see myself owning a dank vinyl rig in the future, but not investing a bunch of cash in a hi-rez one.
