Once the buyer has sent an "I want it" PM, I give them 48 hours to pay once they have received my paypal email address. If they specifically ask for more, I am happy to accomodate if they are an established member of the community. So I'd say since the buyer provided you with his paypal, then sold to someone else, that is pretty shitty. If he didn't want to wait after you sent the second PM, he should have written back to you ASAP and told you so.

Wow, really? Even with its singly nature, I still find it an incredibly moving song, a fitting post-punk tribute to the absurdity of the existential kerouacian/beat new american dream.

yes, kab wants to spread direct drive love to everybody. trust me, he is VERY passionate about the technics sl1200mk2. sure he wants to make a buck too, but the amount of time he put into making those 1200 mods is crazy. [me=postjack]shills[/me]

wow, i'm just like him, except for the exercise, chess, and presidential position. I was president of my class in high school though, so that is pretty similar.

So whats the latest word on the MK2? I did some perfunctory browsing in the HF Stax thread, and it seems like there are some extremely positive reviews in contrast to the original bad reviews. Anyone had any pertinent back channel conversations that shed anymore light on the issue?

Its wild as hell, but I just did exactly this, and any notions that the Quads are bright disappeared. Thanks so much for the tip Duggeh!

Before its over with I will do exactly this. I'm kind of waiting for the dust to settle on the whole mk2 thing though. stax rox -
I guess you would need two if you really wanted them to act as stands for the Compacts?

I'm sitting ~6ft away, and actually am using a significant amount of toe-in. I'll try firing the speakers more forward and see how that works, thanks for the tip. I'm not really looking to buy, just expressing a curiousity about high efficiency single driver designs and the amps that power them. So I decided to make a public post and waste all of your time rather then PM Mike and waste his time.

A little rolled off in the high end might be good for application in a smaller listening room like mine. Sometimes the Quads can be a little bright, and I feel that if I could put some more distance between them and myself this would not be the case.
-
Sounds interesting, but it definitely comes across as being a "niche" type of sound. I'd sure like to audition a pair though.
-
Agreed. 10ft minimum on any recable for me, and I only sit a few feet from my amp. I just toss any extra cable under my desk. This is also so the cable can run straight down my chest and onto the floor in front of me, as opposed as directly to the right where my amp is located. I find when using a shorter cable and having to run it in this fashion, it drags the headphone down on my head all lopsided.

Tyrion posting his Compact Hemps for sale got me interested yesterday, so I did a bit of internet searchage. I like the looks of the Omega company, and their speakers look very nice, and reasonably priced to boot. I'm a newb when it comes to high efficiency speakers and SET amps (its high efficiency right, not low efficiency?), but I admit the simplicity of it all appeals to me (single ended triode -> single driver). So what do Omegas sound like? Do they like bigger rooms or smaller rooms?

Zanth's GS1K/RS-1/MS-Pro/PS-1/HP-1000 Review Is Up

One man's sluggishness is another man's PRaT. But I admit I have difficulty swallowing the market price of the HP1000, which is one reason why I sold mine. A mint 51 empire cap set will run you about the cost of a HP1000, IIRC. However, I'm limiting my obsession to the cheaper SJ sterling capped vacs, modern Bexleys, and the occasional flexible nibbed vintage celluloid (I only have one now, a canadian waterman in a brown, arco-esque celluloid with a very flexible nib. amazing pen!). -

yay zanth. Thanks for part two of the review. -
I love my 840a, but it is the only integrated amp or for that matter speaker amp I've ever owned.

just finished season one of Lost. this is a great, great, great show. I mean it is just great.

I'm fairly sure I read somewhere on TTVJ's site that there are no returns on b-stock? And the PH-1 was B-stock. I was thinking I would just end up selling it on the gon later for not much loss. But now that I think of it I can't seem to find where it says this on the site, maybe I just made it up in my head.
-
I've written TTVJ to see if I can take advantage of their 30 day return policy to upgrade to a Sonata Statement. That way I'll have the Sonata in both HO and LO, and I can do a proper shoot out. I'm willing to bet I'll prefer the LO, even with the hiss from the PH-1. Listening to some sludge metal with the Reference right now though, sounds great.

I know that reading Xanth'sZanth's review really made me want to hear PS-1s. Also I concur with a lot of what he said regarding the GS1K. Of course I'm probably the only person around here who will say that. -

Sure, the is for when somebody says something you don't understand. The , as far as I can tell, has multiple purposes, but it works well for a shocked or omg type of reaction.
