How silent is the PS3?
-
Maybe wait a bit till the price comes down even further and real blockbuster games are released. I'm waiting for either FF13 or MGS4 before making the purchase. I have no need for a Blu-Ray player, so can't really answer that part of the question.

Just saw a new Force Unleashed gameplay video, playing the bad jedi should be so much fun.
-
Oops, meant to say GTA4. Not much of a fan of the Gran Turismo series, too realistic. Amazing graphics though. That gametrailers most anticipated games video: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/30915.html

Saw a video on gametrailers today about the most anticipated games and I just realized that this year is going to be awesome. I know lots of people called last year great, but none of the games really appealed to me. And I don't have or plan on buying an Xbox 360. But this year: Metal Gear 4, GT 4, Final Fantasy 13, Street Fighter 4, Fallout 3 and Starcraft 2. I've spent most of my gaming youth playing their predecessors. Maybe not so innovative but 2008 is going to be great.

The Headcase pico Lovefest: Post your impressions here

Hey, great suggestion. I completely forgot about BJC. Will shoot them an email. Basically, I just need a decent and inexpensive mini-RCA cable. -

While waiting for the Pico, is there any mini-RCA cable that is good? To connect the Pico to an Earmax Pro for the tubey moments. -
And a few business books and various mangas.

Glenn Gould - The Complete Original Jacket Collection

I always listen to the 80s version when I have a headache, really helps. Don't like the 50s version much, too fast and no repeats. -
How has your rig changed in 2007? And do you have any future plans?
saint.panda replied to postjack's topic in Miscellaneous
Nope, not online yet, but soon. The IT guys are working all day and night already. It's a start-up in the travel business, which lets you find local tour guides (or similar things like translators) with some Web 2.0 elements (kind of like ebay with tour guides instead of products) and with some applications for mobile phones. We want to get things off the ground during the Euro 2008 and Beijing Olympics. Since I'm kind of Chinese, I'm responsible for the latter. getyourguide.com -

saint.panda replied to postjack's topic in Miscellaneous
I figured if the start-up goes well (probably 5-10% chance or more if the web 2.0 craze keeps up, but unlikely), getting rich should be possible. If it fails, I could probably join a consultancy or investment bank (ugh), but then there's a chance I'll get fired before getting to the the rich level, which is very likely. And then there are other things like sudden death, law suits, accident, marriage, etc. that depress the probability of getting rich. But mostly, 30% sounded like an optimistic enough number. -

Downsized from a HE90 rig to a mostly portable one (HD 25-1, ESW9, triple.fi 10). Also sold a Mini-Dac and pair of Adam P11A, which sounded great together but weren't used much. Currently in line for a Pico (should be soon) and will probably add a Earmax Pro/Silver Edition sometime this year because it's so small and having a tube amp complement the Pico sounded like a decent idea. If I were to get rich one day (30% possibility of doing so), I will buy a pair of HE90 again. -
Same here, really educational review and superbly written. I especially liked the soundstage / headstage differentiation.
-
Oh crap, you're right. Moe education?

If China can borrow Disneyland, why not also Haruhi? Except in this case, I don't think most people would know. And you wouldn't want to point out to your seat neighbour "Hey, this is a rip-off from Haruhi?", "What's Haruhi?", "It's a re-socialization programme used in Indonesian prisons"[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Xx4tszZ-DE]video[/ame].

Impedance adapters are quite cheap I think. The issue with the KSC-75 is that it's a prime case for diminishing returns, considering that the ratio of "price of upgrade / base price" is huge. But cable upgrades costs are kind of fixed (more or less), so with that in mind, I think it was worth it as long as you don't expect too much.
-
Why not?
-
I thought it made the KSC-75 better, but not up to the level of $150 headphones, closed or open. The built-in 75 Ohm impedance was nice, too. Extremely flexible and durable cable - much better than previous aftermarket cables I've had. People spend the same amount of money on HD650 cable upgrades, and considering the time I spent with the KSC-75 when I used it as my primary office headphone, the recabling job was quite bliss.
-
People are still into vintage pdcps?
-
I'm thinking of getting a full-size headphone to replace the stolen HD650 (assholes took my MBP and HPDAC as well) and except for classical, I'm quite fond of the ESW9's sound signature. Tight and linear bass, PRaT-y and a touch of warmth in the mids. Quite coloured but goes well with some types of music. Is the W5000 like a big size version of the ESW9, or what would be? I've had the A900 some time ago, but that was just a ok phone, other than that no Audio Technica experience.

I really wouldn't mind a Pico / Duet comparison... I'll get a Pico anyway but may have to get a Duet as well if it's noticeably better. The Mini-Dac is already on ebay.
