Thanks guys. I guess I wasnt clear that this really isint about me. I just wanted to know what people with $1000+ worth of gear would downgrade to if they had to. How good is the line out of the transit anyways? I have a M Audio Audiophile USB which has a pretty nice line out, but thats a little more expensive then the transit. and I see a lot of GLite suggestions. Am I the only one that wasnt blown away by the GLite with grados (I liked it a lot with the 580)? I liked the CK2III much more then the GLite with both grados and senns.

I dont know if this is the right subforum but whatever If you had only had $500 to put a good headphone rig together, then what components would you choose? If you choose computer as the source, the computer doesn't count towards the $500.

hmm I didnt know that about the other phones but the AKG 501, 601 and 701 have 1/4" connectors. and I think the denons have 1/8" connectors. Completely forgot that my 580s have the 650 stock cable not the 600 cable. I guess you're right, most phones do have 1/8" connectors. Wierd.

random question why does my dad's Mcintosh C46 have a 1/8th connection for headphones? Do they expect people to plug in their ibuds on it?

Gold has some good songs as well but not as consistent as Heartbreaker and Suicide Handbook is pretty damn good. SH is up there with CR and Heartbreaker in songwriting. but shitty encoding and I saw Dark Star Orchestra live last year, boring as hell for me but damn they go on for a LOOOONG time

dream theater I agree with, a lot of classic rock (might be because I wasnt exposed to it until a couple of years ago), have to agree with reks about radiohead, theyre good but not as good as people make them out to be animal collective, just WTF? I like some of their songs but most just have me pressing the skip button bjork, sometimes the same deal as animal collective but i like bjork more then AC (reks is gonna rip me a new one probably ) greatful dead, i get bored real fast with them theres definitely more but I cant remember anything else right now

Ohh I see. How about the chord dac? I've only heard good things about it. Elephas said that he prefers the chord dac over the accuphase dp-500.
