  1. oh ok, I see what you mean
  2. So the PSU is not performing well then right? I'll be swapping out the original dynahi PSU for a GRLV in a week or so. I could send you that one. I'm curious as to how it would measure. Feel free to keep it.
  3. The SEN I/V is on it's way. I got the unit in this post: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digital-source/195483-zen-cen-sen-evolution-minimalistic-iv-converter-62.html#post2952599 The idea is to get it working and compare to the existing I/V stages by twisted pear. If it's better, I'd like to make a board that the BIII will stack on top of. One for stereo and one for dual mono. I have found a source for matched quads of 2SK369V so the next step is to buy one set and test those. The only problem I see is getting heatsinks like the one in the picture.
  4. I was too busy to turn it on until the 3rd as I was frying wings and cheese sticks. Sat down with a huge plate and watched. I just couldn't believe it. I'm not a pats fan but I gotta give it to them last night
  5. I found the original article free for download from here http://linearaudio.net/sites/linearaudio.net/files/didden-la -vol2euvl.pdf and here's the explanation as to why 2SK369V is needed http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digital-source/195483-zen-cen-sen-evolution-minimalistic-iv-converter-63.html#post2954343
  6. much thanks... perhaps I will enable attenuation in the DAC when using this as part of a preamp
  7. understood... My DAC does have a digital volume control but I disable it. So if this board increases the balanced gain and I feed it to an amp it's multiplied again by whatever gain the amp is at correct?
  8. Got it... So it's ok to omit the attenuator then?
  9. I have a line on a pair of populated SEN I/V boards. Gonna see how this plays out
  10. If I wanted to make a preamp with these boards can I omit the attenuator and wire it like this? For example:
  11. I like the idea, that's for sure
  12. High voltage, hmm maybe worth a shot but there's this http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digital-source/195483-zen-cen-sen-evolution-minimalistic-iv-converter-188.html#post4961030 And, I heard back from someone that had it working with the BIII albeit in single ended config he said it sounded weak and sold the setup. Then reading a bit further someone else reported the same. There are two people that may have working ver 18 boards that they're willing to sell and are to get back to me soon. Let me do some more research
  13. What's the next step up? Soekris? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I saw a bunch of posts saying this was a whole different ballgame compared to the ivy or legato. But it seems like a lot of work and the cost of sourcing hard to get parts. Maybe it would be worth it if there were parts we could use that are currently available. What do you think ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. found this I'm definitely going to need help with this
  16. That looks like a good deal. He's not matching them right? So we have to buy 100 or so raw correct?
  17. That's what I was thinking was one possibility
  18. I believe you're right... Let me try
  19. It is indeed funny, but I have no layout software or experience. I know, I suck
  20. I don't think the original boards are available and I think the 2SK369V are out of production. As far as the heatsinks go they look like they were made just for the original group buy a few years ago and haven't been made since. My thoughts and or questions are: 1. is there an equivalent to the 2SK369V through hole or smt that we could match? 2. would someone be willing to layout the board 3. we should be able to find a heatsinking solution What are your thoughts
  21. looks like I need SEN I/V v18 boards and 4 2SK369V matched quads w/heatsinks
  22. Does anyone here have experience with the SEN I/V stage? I want to try this with my BIII http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digital-source/195483-zen-cen-sen-evolution-minimalistic-iv-converter.html
  23. added this board and the BH Ultramini Version 4 to the latest group buy https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z1L3MQuuY4ZTUyPQb1qBmVJp8MtC7qEzBUui3z5dFrQ/edit?usp=sharing
  24. Spreadsheet updated with the CFA (electrostatic) and the BH Ultramini HV PSU
