  1. Monkey wrenches only hurt monkeys, not me, I can block with my trunk! I think that fellow BH and BHSE owners are re-fusing to take their tube-rolling duties seriously. So if a BHSE loses to a WES, it was because of the tubes!
  2. Those photos are obviously photoshopped.
  3. But what about fuse rolling? I would be the first to say that $2500 for a quad of Philips EL34 metal base is way too much. About half that is more reasonable, but still high. And if the recording isn't so good, which is the case for most of the pop/rock/R&B stuff I seem to be uncontrollably obsessed with recently, you might as well use the Mullard xf2 or Philips DD-getter or other types. Sooner or later both the WES and BHSE are going to show up at the same meet. If you happen to be the BHSE owner, let me know if I can help out with a few tubes. Not that we need an advantage, but better safe than sorry. Look at the photos of the happy people at the NY meet listening to the WES! There's even a guy giving the thumbs up to the SR-Omega + WES!
  4. I can't stand it! There are photos of people enjoying the SR-Omega with the WES! Maybe they were listening to Leona Lewis - Echo? And it sounds better than the SR-Omega + BHSE? Aaagh! Whew, at least the WES only had Shuguang Treasure EL34 and what looks like Sophia 6SL7. It would really be unbearable if it had Philips metal base EL34 and Valvo 6SL7.
  5. I just saw the latest NY meet thread and people are saying good things about the Woo WES and RSA A-10! What should we do?! What can we do?! Don't panic. Don't tell me not to panic! I'm not panicking, why should I panic? How many people are in here, anyway? This is too scary, let's go back to listening to Leona Lewis - Echo with the O2mk2 and BHSE since the mk2 has more bass. Haha Deadneddz doesn't know what he's missing yet.
  6. Well, I don't know if the BHSE is the ultimate amp. I think it's great, and it's the best sound I've heard with all my electrostatic headphones. I don't even feel like using dynamics with the Zana Deux much anymore. Kind of sad. Hey, I don't have no restless tuberoller syndrome. I was using the DD-getter for more than two weeks, and I've had the metal base in there for another two weeks now. They should stay there for a long time. If I have a syndrome, it is lack of improving musical tastes syndrome. I admit it's kind of embarrassing how much a person my age is enjoying pop/R&B music, I thought I would be well into boring old classical by now, zzzzzz. Leona Lewis - Echo is really good!
  7. It's from a Guide to EL34/6CA7 I bought off eBay, it's a PDF file. It's my secret weapon in the eternal struggle against fellow BH and other EL34 amp owners. Yes, that's right, fellow BH owners are the enemy in regards to tube acquisition operations. Ya, doesn't this mean that replacing all four will lead to more improvements than replacing the single fuse in other amps?
  8. Hey, there are four fuses in the BHSE! Two 2.0A at the IEC inlet and two 0.2A in the round holders.
  9. Let's refer to our trusty guide, ah, here it is.
  10. I believe it should work, but check with Justin to be safe. I have a quad of Philips 4699 metal base tubes, which are also supposed to be early versions with a different type of base. I don't have any adapters though, so I'm just keeping them in storage. Link
  11. I would like to participate. Hmm, Paula Abdul sounds pretty good to me. But I have hopes that an exchange might help me improve my tastes in music. SACD or CD. International shipping.
  12. OK, yes, that was bit of an unnecessary rant there, I don't know what came over me. Hmm, I hadn't listened to electrostatics for a while before, maybe that was it. No problems now, happy happy happy! Hey, I thought you joined the Stax Mafia. No problem, you can have first choice of two AT's, I won't miss them. Oops, I sold it already. Don't miss it at all! Too late, I was going to do an ESW10JPN giveaway for members who like black amps like the BHSE and Aristaeus, but you did your "pfft" and the mood was gone.
  13. Go for either the Mullard xf2 or Philips DD-getter brown base first. Then, if budget permits or you're just too curious, you can try the metal base or old stock GEC KT77.
  14. Sure, everything I'm saying is based on my current source. I'm using: PC for audio > Win7 > foobar SOX Resampler 176.4 > RME HDSPe AES > Dual AES > 2x Oyaide AR-910 cables > Esoteric D-05 (both RME card and DAC slaved to G-03x clock) The price for EL34 metal base is steep, I agree. Market prices for the xf2 or the DD-getter brown base are also high but lower, and these are already great tubes for the BHSE. This is one of those "if budget permits" extra steps. I think they're worth the cost, but then I also think the BHSE would be worth it at twice the price. Please don't tell Justin! Yeah, I could just send him more money and I would be just as happy with the amp, or maybe even happier according to the "pay more and enjoy it more" conjecture. Don't forget ol' KG too. In fact, I could send KG and Justin all the other audio junk and just keep the O2mk1, BHSE and Philips EL34 metal base, and nothing changes! I'm just as happy. La la la, la de la la, happy happy happy.
  15. Hey, thanks for the link, I'm high bidder now. Don't worry, I'm not bidding very high, I'm supposedly stopping tube acquisition operations. I believe that most of the metal base-type tubes are either made by Philips or Telefunken. The TF are even rarer, I don't have any. I think that these metal base are better than the Mullard xf2 with the O2mk1 and O2mk2, though the difference isn't very large. The xf2 will do nicely, definitely. But the metal base have that extra refinement, clarity, etc. They do everything very well, bass quality, bass quantity, treble extension, treble clarity, midrange body and smoothness, blah blah blah. There are no weaknesses. Just think of perfect, and that's the O2mk1 + BHSE with Philips EL34 metal base!
  16. Haha, I was wondering who is posting in this thread. I'm through with AT, they suck! Yeah, I know I'm the OP, this is HC, deal with it! Like I'm dealing with the repulsive title some reptilian wanna-be mod slapppped on me! L3000 sucks! W5000 sucks! AD2000 sucks! W2002 sucks! W11JPN sucks! A950LTD sucks! ESW10JPN sucks! ESW9 sucks! CM700Ti sucks! AT doesn't even have one top quality headphone. Sennheiser didn't either (dynamics) until the HD800, but they do now. At least Beyer is trying something with the T1, and AKG had the K1000. All AT has is a lot of crappy models.
  17. Attention all BHSE owners: Go out, get on the tube sites, get on eBay, wherever, Now! and buy a quad of Philips EL34 metal base! I assume all BHSE owners have either an O2mk1 or O2mk2. I think these Philips metal base are the perfect match for the O2's. Yes, they're not easy to find and may be expensive, but your ears, the amp and the O2's deserve them. Team O2 + Metal Base rules!
  18. Everything sounds great with electrostats + BHSE.
  19. I like smooth jazz! The BHSE plays Kenny G quite well, "My Heart Will Go On"! So smooth and also detailed too! I'm glad to see other people who share similar taste in music with me! If you're getting a KGSS, you might as well save up a little bit more and go for a used O2mk1 or O2mk2 instead of a Koss. If budget is tight, maybe go for a less expensive used SRM-717 instead of a KGSS.
  20. What's to discuss anymore? Everybody wants to love, everybody just wants to be loved! Everybody, let's go listen to our O2/SR-Omega/HE90 + BHSE!
  21. Why do people want to muck around with USB converters or USB DACs? Dedicated PC for audio > RME HDSPe AES (slaved to master clock generator) RME drivers are very good and work OK with WinXP, Vista, Windows 7, and Mac OS X.
