  1. I'm normal, dammit. They deserve it, those gibbledyglop nincompoops! Hey, lookie what I have here, a practically brand-new W11JPN! Whatever shall I do with it?
  2. So it seems that I'm normal and powerless again. I think it's that "Ed, I Piss Rocks" guy's fault this time. At least I know that Graaaaawk guy loves me. Why did I open my big mouth again? Having the power twice, and losing it twice, some people never learn. Oh well, normal can be good.
  3. I loooove you, Grawk! Huh? Jpns? What jpns? Whatchu talking 'bout? Hahaha, look at all the normal people with stupid titles are soooo stupid!
  4. Erp! I take it back! You're "The Person With A Name That Sounds Like Puking, But Is Actually A Beautiful Name" I have the power!
  5. You bastard! You, you "The Person Who's Name Sounds Like A Puking Chicken"
  6. Hahahahaha! I did it! I'm Super Cool Baby Elephant! Hahahahaha!
  7. Wha? 4070 > O2? Is this allowed? Is it Stax Mafia approved? How about the HE60, HE90 and Jade? For me, it is O2 > SR-Omega > Airbow SR-SC1 > 4070 For some weird reason, I don't really like the 4070, it is probably my least favorite electrostatic. It is technically superb and maybe the most neutral, but I think it's kind of bland, tasteless and uninvolving.
  8. Ouch! I'm never going to post anything ever again! Hmm, does barely knowing how to use a multimeter to bias tubes (and do nothing else with it) count? Well, I could do a 404LE review on HF, using an SR-SC1 instead of a 404LE which I've never heard. I just need to get pics from somewhere. But Forbigger doesn't trust me. So there's no point.
  9. Thanks for the YouTube link, Whale. It's always good to see more Team Animal Avatars around. The assembly process seems simple, broken down into the steps. I expected the mix of automation and hand-built, but I'm surprised by how few people are needed. With their neat tools, the tasks don't seem very difficult at all, I think even I (who's never even touched a soldering iron) could do the soldering of the wires!
  10. What the...? Hey, I'm a member here too! And I don't recall talking about EL34 tubes recently. Where are the other BHSE owners? Oh, right, they're still waiting for their amps. The xf2 aren't even my favorite EL34. I was a little too enthusiastic buying them last year, so I don't need anymore. Hey, once you've overpaid a ridiculous high price for one, all the rest seem "cheap" and must-buy. I need someone like n_maher's wife.
  11. Dude, the "Omega" = the SR-Omega. No one refers to the SR-007 or SR-007mk2 as the "Omega" anymore. In the olden days when no one had heard an SR-Omega, no problem. But now it seems that everyone and their cousin Vinny owns an SR-Omega and they're showing up at meets regularly. This guy can build me an eXStata anytime!
  12. Haha, poor little 007t, it's supposed to be a Stax top-line amp but doesn't seem to get any love. Well, I don't even want to listen to the O2 with a 717 or KGSS, so I guess a 007t doesn't really have a chance. I still recall the KGSS fondly (I sold it a long time ago) but don't miss it much. I remember thinking, "How much difference could there be amping the O2 anyway?" before I heard the O2 + KGSS. Those Stax-brand amps are bundled with the O2 after all, so that's the "official" sound, right? I think the Stax amps are the best they can do, given cost constraints, and selling through dealers and manufacturing the amps in Japan doesn't help in the cost dept. So the amps are not really very good values, but then not many commercial amps are good values compared to DIY-designed and built. The Stax engineers most probably have built a BH in-house to try, so they know how the O2 sounds driven by those amps... which is NOT DARK.

    Beyer T1

Oh, I agree that the HD600, HD650, K501, K701 are good headphones, especially for the price. But are they truly "top-tier" level? Enough to call it a 'two horse race'? I would hardly call the time period before the HD800 was introduced and after the K1000 was discontinued, a 'two horse race between Senn and AKG, with Beyer No. 3.' Now, it may arguably be a race between Senn (HD800) and Beyer (T1), with AKG reliving past glories with the K1000 and all three covering the lower price levels well with the HD6x0, K70x and DTxxx models. Even so, this is still being a bit too dismissive of AT, Stax, Denon, Grado, etc.

    Beyer T1

Beyer was No. 3 in a two horse race between AKG and Sennheiser?! I think Beyer was arguably more like No. 7 or 8. And two horse race between AKG and Senn? Senn wasn't even in the race (for dynamics) before the HD800, and AKG only had the K1000 which was not exactly a "normal" headphone. Apparently Sony, Audio-Technica, Grado, and Stax were not competitive?
  15. Does it seem very large? It doesn't seem exceptionally big to me, at least not much bigger than HE90, Jade, O2 or SR-Omega. The housings do seem thick/deep.
  16. A-ha! Caught you! I rip off your mask! So you are one of the repressive authorities repressing us poor normal members! I make you slip up, you meanie authority nincompoops! Hee hee hahaha! No, I want The Power! The Power to edit the text under the username, whenever I want. I had that Power once, it exists, it is there, I know. You can't fool smarty me. Also, by the way, the W11JPN is the closest to the leatherhead.
  17. If Rudistor only had the drivers, that could be a prototype "borrowing" a Beyer headband assembly and housings temporarily. I agree about the Jade's flimsy build and bad materials quality. The headband assembly is fragile, borrowing a Beyer headband assembly would be preferable. It's something that could be done, if one was so inclined, the driver housings can be removed, most easily by just breaking off the wood forks. I imagine ol' Birgir "You can call me Thor" struggling to not crush the fragile Jade with those huge clumsy hands of his and a tiny philips head screwdriver and I smile. I don't think the Jade sounds really great, but I don't think it sounds that bad either. I would put it a little ahead of the Airbow SR-SC1. Justin spent some time with my Jade too, after Spritzer kindly replaced its horrible stock cable with a Stax cable. When I asked Justin what he thought about it, he seemed to like it well enough. Now the Jade is even more comfortable with HE90 earpads replacing the horrible stock earpads. A lot of the stock earpads smell seemed to have rubbed off on Spritzer and Justin (thanks!) and the smell wasn't as heavy when I got it back, but it was still there. So I had to sacrifice a set of HE90 earpads. I'll never complain about the cost of O2 earpads.
  18. Ah, that's right, I happen to be in possession of two W11JPN. The closest-sounding to the L3000, IMHO. I overpaid for one off Yahoo Japan and now I'm stuck with them. I might be inclined to get rid of one, if somehow I gain the capability to edit the text under my username. That's a fair trade, right?
  19. Hey, I'm quoted about the He Audio Jade at a site called Wikiphonia! HE Audio Jade - Wikiphonia It's always better to be Opinion 1, who wants to be yucky Opinion 4, but that's it?! I said a lot more things about the Jade, didn't I? I think that quote makes me sound dumb. OK, OK, I made me sound dumb, not the quote. And that was with the "Unmentionable" ES1 amp, too, so obviously anything I said was suspect and invalid.
  20. As mentioned before, it's a good idea to check a tube with another tester before throwing it out. You can confirm your readings with a respected tube seller's results when you buy from them. Also, make sure you let the tube warm up for some time in the tester. Some old tubes seem to need more time to get up to speed. I was impatient a few times and didn't wait long enough, less than a minute, and the tubes tested weak. I retested again, letting them warm up in the tester and after using the tubes in the amp. They tested OK.
  21. I have a B&K 747B too. My manual says SEN = 72 for the 6SN7, and 45 for 6AS7 and 43 for the 5998.
  22. Hahaha, are there people waiting for their BHSE? Hahahaha. Haha. One more, haha. Got it. I looked around deviantART but couldn't find something I liked. Ah well, if you want something done right...
  23. All, right! I think I can safely say that you'll like the BHSE, even though you sold off an Aristaeus. Yes, I'm unfortunately all too aware and jealous of the P-03/D-03/G-0Rb. That would be quite the source to match with a BHSE. It seems that Facets hasn't been updated in a while. I'm not sure it works with the latest 1.0 foobar. See, this is the kind of thing that makes using foobar more complicated. Can you imagine a "beginner-type" computer user messing around with foobar configuration, not to mention a "fucking moron" type? Facets
  24. Yeah, definitely try the lobster sandwich shops up the coast, you can combine that with some outlet shopping. Also the swordfish kebabs in Faneuil Hall are great. Should also try Legal Seafood.
  25. It isn't so shiny in real life, the photo makes it more reflective. I don't think anyone ever refers to the W5000 as the Raffinato, nor would anyone talk about their Grandioso. That would sound stupid. What's really stupid is talking about "my Omegas" plural when referring to only one headphone. What about when you're talking about two headphones? The whole pair of headphones, pair of pants thing is stupid, it's one single piece isn't it?
