New Cat
slightly off topic: my dirtyboy new cat is at the vet's getting a bath. I'll take pics when he gets home if he doesn't try to shred my face after sending him off to cat hell. He's already filled out quite a bit in the last week and is looking good. He's stopped trying to bump me back into the kitchen and is no longer eating like there isn't enough food in the world for him. He still doesn't have a name. Bumpers no longer fits, and nothing else has stuck yet.

Deepak, a good friend of mine did a lot of research into Scottish Folds and was planning on getting one (intelligence, affable personalities, cute, etc) until her husband more or less put the stomp on that plan. Since he'd moved cross country and built a new house just so she could quit her high paying job and go to acupuncture school, she gave in on the cat. She almost had me convinced to get one instead. If you're set on getting a breed, they're pretty cool.

I still like the ESW9s a lot. No, they don't compare to better full-size headphones, but I wasn't expecting them to, nor have I made that claim. As far as good-sounding, portable, closed headphones go (a definite need for me), I'm loving these. If you're looking for what the best headphones can offer, these don't come close (especially in separation/air...things can be a bit thick), but then we're talking home headphones/systems. If you're looking for the best in portability (non-iem), I haven't found better. Amp choice does make a difference (I've been messing with an assortment), and I can no longer really recommend them unamped, though volume is no problem straight from an ipod. They also aren't the best with heavy rock, etc., but are wonderful with acoustic, small combo jazz and much of the music I listen to daily. btw, I don't get the deal with the KSC-75. Sure, cost to performance ratio is maybe the best around, but outside of that and the plus of not caring if you lose them or they break, pffft.

How did you get yours, Mike, when ours were mailed on the same day and you live only miles from me? Maybe I went to the mailbox too early. Maybe I should go again, pjs and all. I'm gonna do it.

fucking crap
Sorry, Grawk. I've been there a few times, and it's always the most maddening because you really can't do anything at all except get mad and that doesn't even do any good. I once lost everything I owned moving into a place. I moved stuff in, went out to eat, came home, and the whole apartment had been cleared out like I'd never been there. The cops just laughed at me (it wasn't exactly in a good neighborhood) when I tried to report it, and that was that.
- What are you smoking right now?

No, and that's what's sad. It was decided that if anyone were listening to music, it would give the impression that no real work was getting done, which is bs. Most of our work is done in groups or one-on-one with patients, but it was nice to be able to listen to music while doing all the after-the-fact documentation. They already banned the Internet from all except the Executive Director, the Program Director and Office Manager (but we are allowed to access it from our phones or laptops...go figure). I actually brought in music for the patients. It was a nice way to get to know something about them and have them stop viewing me as the enemy. If you can't have one positive bond, the likelihood that you'll be able to gain their trust enough to do any good is pretty low. Music was an easy in. That's the saddest thing of all. Back on topic: I'm still a R10 and Senn fangirl.

Thanks. At least I have my Heed integrated, which is a nice little amp, for the speakers, and a few other amps (including my soon to arrive Pico!!!) to play with around the house. My boss just banned all music from work today. God forbid we have that around while we work, but I won't have to worry about carrying anything to and from anymore

I haven't had a chance to check it out as I had company over when it died. I just got sent home from work for coughing and sneezing (I don't actually feel bad, so goodie for me), so I'll mess around with it later. Maybe it's just the tubes, but the last time it died, it was making the same horrible sounds (also happened after using it for many hours straight), so I'm not hopeful. He rebuilt my amp entirely last time (he says), including a new case (the gain switch I had was no longer there) and added the power supply. It sounded so much better than the first one I had, I didn't mind the three month wait, but if it's not tubes (which I doubt), this really stinks.
