  1. Happy birthday!!!
  2. The Mk1 has never lacked any treble to my ears and is a welcome break from all those transducers out to impress with an exaggerated treble. The is almost identical but the slightly more forward nature makes it better for more upbeat music as the bass has a just a bit more attack after they have been modified. With the followers then the amp could have a chance of driving the 007's but it simply remains to be seen.
  3. O2 killer!!!! ...
  4. It's leather!!!!! The Mk2 is slightly more forward then the Mk1 so the treble is a bit more expressive but it's by no means a big difference.
  5. You are using output caps which will limit the bandwidth of the amp.
  6. I do believe that the transformer is a custom unit as what other design has use for the impedances involved. Do you see many speaker amps with 300ohm output taps, let alone 30 or even 20ohm? The fact that a transformer can be bought now proves nothing as it had to be available before the 307a was designed to be relevant.
  7. With the F5 under way we need to shift the Aleph so pictures when you can.
  8. I use Audiogon quite often and get offers from all around the world. Most components are easy to change to 117 which would open up the buyers pool. Do you have any internal pics of the Aleph or the make/model of the transformer?
  9. Did you ever try to sell the Aleph on Audiogon? There appears to be some market for the DIY Pass stuff. It's much cheaper the ebay too.
  10. SAVING UP!!!!!! You Scot's and your crazy ideas...
  11. It's been confirmed that the pic is free to be posted so here you go:
  12. Ok, but wasn't it behind closed doors? Hey, I'm a Nordic God so I can do what I please. If that's dressing up in drag then thats my business...
  13. I took the picture down since I'm not sure if I could share it in the first place and I can't remember who sent it to me. I have a lot of pictures that can't be shared so better to err on side of caution...
  14. Here is a picture of the insides of the amp. I can't for the life of me remeber where I got it so if it steps on any toes, will the mods please remove it or I can just remove it from the 'shack. If the other stuff in this price range even approached to be half as well designed and executed as this then there could actually be some competition to speak of. I don't think that he uses Tango iron as they usually have a cutout at the bottom with terminals and not lead wires but it could simply be hidden from view by the PCB. The CCS is clearly off board. Btw. I approve of the Metcal soldering iron...
  15. Do you want me to loan you Mj
  16. Hey!! It hasn't even recuperated from the last crash... :'(
  17. Don't forget that you can take the same design priciples and apply them to a 'stat amp too. All triodes with either direct or transformer coupling... yummy.
  18. Congrats!! I plan to spend this Friday night stuffing four Blue Hawaii PCB's with parts. Mmmm PRP and Holco resistors...
  19. The SR-007 pads should fit the SR-5...
  20. Well KK did dig deep on some info on Peter's Balls which were a great read about where Quad could have gone and also there is some great info on how the ESL's came of age. I did enjoy it tremendously... 'nuff said.
  21. Happy birthday!!
  22. Looks great but where are the internal pics...?
  23. DIY is certainly the way to go but you could pickup an old Sugden or something like that. You could also just put some resistors inline with the headphones from the NAD to lower the volume.
  24. Will do. If this design doesn't pan out then we'll just have to start on a new one.
