  1. ...at least that cleaned up that horribly offensive book by that awful Mr. Twain. </sarcasm>
  2. I, for one welcome out new obscene power cable overlords don't want a power cable that might cause me to BREAK A TOE ON IT.
  3. Some shots from New Year's Eve: That one is assembled as a triptych, but I had to resize and post it to Imgur to get an image of the width I wanted. Flickr is a little too clever for its own good sometimes. Click through any of the images (including the one hosted on imgur) to get to the Flickr page and see tags, EXIF, etc. Moar later, probably.
  4. Due to the fact that amount of material that arrives via RSS is vastly greater than the number of posts I can make in a day, I'm going to begin including 3+ images per Slow Post. Slightly Less Slow Forum?
  5. Oof. They'd better ban Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant as well, then.
  6. Took some shots of the blizzard this afternoon, and a few more this evening. The night photos could have come out better. After spending an hour outside shoveling and another hour taking pix, I wasn't interested in spending any more time trying to get the shots I wanted. Fun fact: The second and third photos were taken with the EF 75-300mm F/4-5.6 III USM, which is largely regarded as the worst zoom lens Canon makes. Perverse bastard that I am, I enjoy squeezing good shots out of it.
  7. Macallan Cask Strength, to warm me up after spending entirely too long outside taking pictures. Wee hee ho.
  8. Dang. I got distracted with the arrival of the plow guy and forgot the joke I wanted to use with this. "Gee, I didn't know Single Power made engagement rings."
  9. Contains copious cursing.
  10. Sneak Preview of the Cover of The Stranger This Week, Created by Dan Savage and Aaron Huffman | Slog | The Stranger, Seattle's Only Newspaper Fucking hell.
  11. I have dealt with this problem on several occasions. Not with pro audio equipment, but with pro lighting gear. Virtually all halogen and arc-bulb club lights have very high CFM fans blowing directly on to the bulb and PCB. I use haze (atomized glycol, a physical reaction, much smaller particles) and not fog (thermal reaction, comparatively huge particles). In my utterly non-scientific experience, extended exposure to haze does less damage to equipment than a similar exposure to fog. That said, I have a small graveyard of blinkenlights that no longer function because of PCB issues. I'm really liking my new LED fixtures which generate almost no heat and don't use fans. </utterly off topic>
  12. We've got a metric butt-tonne of snow here already. I haven't attempted to open my front door yet, but I can tell it's going to be a PITA. The plow guy hasn't shown up yet. Maybe he committed Seppuku.
  13. To put it delicately, I got fucked in the ass by a Radio Shack credit card. Sideways. I am seething with rage. They are both sides of Hanlon's razor, malicious and incompetent. I am so angry I can't see straight. BRB going to smash something.
  14. Wheeee!
