Is the iMod a ripoff?
Probably not hat much off, unless you're talknig about a block of wood, a set of RCA jacks, the dock connrector, a button and some wire, which still wouldn't be that much off. You'd still be ahead getting your own parts and just building it yourself from the ground up. And yes he's stated that the ballpark price is starting around $550 . http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3172929&postcount=25

Well right, but then again you don't do a 500% mark up if you sell stuff.

RAM Modded Oppo 970HD/980H
Honestly, from what I see, most of the cost is in labor, as most palces charge $40/hy+ for labor with a minimum of 1 hour and/or some kind of consulting fee (aka a charge to open it up and look at it). The only palce that I don't think really palces a huge premium on a profit/labor comnponent is SACD mods. If you were to price out what they put in, the labor component is small.

What is your current project, or what will be your next project?
If I'm not mistaken, unless the Denon has 2 DAC chips (assuming that it uses a dual) or 4 single DAC chips, then basically anything would be pseudo/cheater balanced because you'd need something to do the phase inversion.
