Your preference for RCA plugs/jacks and Binding Posts?
bhjazz replied to fierce_freak's topic in Do It Yourself
I'll throw in another voteee for Cardas. Once I learned to drill part of them for a nice isolated ground (if'n you should need it) they were great. 45 minutes left at work. \/\/00t! -
Sagean DT-220V AM/FM radio. Portable, sortof. It's a bit larger than a typical 'pod classic, but does a great job grabbing the few stations I need. At work it actually gets these stations, and in my office, that's a pretty tall order. Mix it with an amp and SE310s, and my day can go by pretty fast.

Egad! Vintage TT means vinyl. Vinyl means cleaning machine. Cleaning machine means more finyl. More vinyl means better stylus and hotrod tt-pre. Mua-ha-ha-ha-ha.........

I knew you were a Capricorn! W00t~Cap's rule THE WORLD!!! Happy Birthday. We'll have to chat sometime about how weird it is to have a birthday like this. I mean, isn't it weird to you that you'll only be this age for one day this year? After a few beers, doing the math gets harder. Maybe I'm just getting old.

Thank you, my friends. And special thanks to boo for noticing! Yes, at my age, I've listened to the Original Sennheiser HD0001, the Grado SR-1, and the AKG Model 1. Many of these early models were quite costly at $1 when first introduced, and the headphone amps for them were incredibly large. RCA's first headphone amp was quite an affair with 743 tubes. We'd really warm up the old castle with that one, and in fact, my grandfather would leave the fireplace and boiler off when music night was upon us. We soon fashioned a 50 foot headphone cable so that we could leave the amplifier in the next room and listen without getting burned from the intense heat. To all: Have an unsafe and wild New Year's Eve, and a new year filled with electronics, headphones, DIY projects and great music.

She's a real winner, ah yes. I honestly shouldn't have posted this the day I did, but we had just spent the evening with the family and there she was. Maybe I should have had some extra-heavy-duty spiked eggnog to rid my brain of the pain! Truly, my life would be complete if she disappeared forever. Poof....YAY! (looking up Harry Potter's phone number now)

X2. I pretty much stay away from eBay these days. Deals might look good, but they often go haywire. As for Audiogon, I've had just handful of transactions, and only had to deal with one lowball sob. The rest were superb.

Background checks are quite necessary these days. It's very easy to find documents online and photoshop words or...names... of your choice anywhere. Somebody needs to shore up the other end, and I see that our fine government did NOT. haha. In that case, I may do some sleuthing...I would really love to find something!

It's all essential. That's why you probably bought it in the first place. I keep putting a few dollars away here and there for a vinyl rig, apparently just like everyone else. I need a house first. No room in this stupid apartment.

Camera/photo bag. Kiwi used to make photo bags and they have the typical velcro inserts so you can make the compartments any size you like. I can't seem to find them on the web just now, but head ot the loca photo place (or B&H online). Nice idea. I need something better for my commuting. I spend more time getting stuff in and out for the short trip, and sometimes opt not to bring it. Sacrilege!

Yeah, I might do some research to see if she ever really received the degree. Masters my ass. Sure would be awesome to reveal that it never happened!

My mom came through as well! editted to add img tags

Yeah, I can uderstand that, augs. No worry. I would try to do the same, but I had just seen this bitch. My apologies. But just to ...she had a small disagreement with my two nieces who are likely the nicest most socially sweet girls you'll ever meet. For two years running now her and her dork husband have given them nothing for Christmas. She thinks she's pretty high and mighty with her education, but she missed "Real Life 101".

A, touch?. And if I get to choose the music I'm listening to during such kiss... +10 points!

Geez Nate, pretty impressive. But I'd bet you NE guys handle that much snow without so much as a sniffle. Here in Seattle, that much snow would make the goddamn news for a week and cripple the city for even longer! I love when it snows here. In spite of having a job where I would be expected to risk my life and limb getting there when it snows, I suppose I could opt for a vacation day and enjoy it.

I hope to never see my sister-in-law ever again. She continues to fuck up any holiday she attends. She has no common sense, says tasteless and rude things to family, and continues to think things are just fine. She is a complete bitch idiot. If I could only It will really shake things up, but my goal for Christmas 2008 is to have a Christmas without her. I don't think I'm alone, judging from the comments from the rest of the family. So, anyone have a special someone who is similar?

All of my analog channels just up and vanished... all 80something of them
bhjazz replied to Grand Enigma's topic in Off Topic
Get the cable monkey servicemen out there. Has the weather changed recently? A year or so back, when ever the weather got extra cold here, we'd lose random channels up and down the dial (yeah, I said dial). Come to find out, the connector in the outdoor magic cable box would expand or contract, depending on the weather. When it contracted, it would lose part of the signal, and then multiples of the frequency all the way up. A quick retermination of the cable and I was back in business. At any rate, just tell them you need a service call and get someone out there. I know the customer svc people probably don't get it, so just opt for a real technician. -
Down again, Weds eve. Hilarious! And yet, a WTF is also in order.

What is your current project, or what will be your next project?
bhjazz replied to JBLoudG20's topic in Do It Yourself
Well I was going to start on a pair of Aliens in January, but these look mighty sweet Nate. My home gear has been crying out for balanced cables for years. I just need more time. Dammit, I need more time for all of this! -
Best drink for improving your listening experience
bhjazz replied to aerius's topic in Food and Drink
I think my best sessions are with Merlot. A good one, not just some gunk from the grocery. Although tonight I've had Crater Lake Vodka with Italian Lemoncello over ice...then a few beers...then some gin samples. Hell, Cyndi Lauper would sound pretty fine about now. -
Looks like it was a fantastic meet. Fundraising! Impressive. I gotta get something going here in Seattle so we can get outta the libraries! Congrats, y'all!

I was at work at the time...but then again, what's the problem

my comments have gone horribly wrong.... No, I often do other things while listening to music. More now than even just a few years back. I can definitely set a soundtrack to most any task; my previous life as a dj makes it easy. back to SQ. I just wish they would try to teach someone who likes music that there might be more to it than just the sound of an iPod with it's extra-sepcial white headphones. if you want that sort of thing. if you enjoy/dont enjoy sound quality if you listen with dedication or with no focus at all on your treadmill aw crap...you guys are gonna get me to drinkin again.
