  1. Camel - A Nod and a Wink Damn do I love this band. I really hope they'll start working on new material now that Andy's health is getting better.
  2. Face it Monkey, you can make excuses all you want, but in the end it will be a French kiss.
  3. Listening to Bob Marley - Exodus (MFSL) right now and my balls are getting literally slayed by the bass, I totally agree on the Yeti thing.
  4. Happy birthday!
  5. How's the angels' bass performance?
  6. Dream Theater - Images & Words
  7. Great writeup, thanks! Did you have a chance to try the JH13 with the Luxman?
  8. Remington MS2-390 to replace my dying el cheapo Panasonic.
  9. I'll try it with the Habs when they start winning again, I'm afraid to watch or listen to the games these days.
  10. Thanks grawk, exactly what I needed. I tried Shoutcast too which was alright, but this one seems better with a lighter interface.
  11. Do you know guys if there's a good internet radio app similar to a SqueezeBox for listening to internet radios around the world? I know about the last.fm app, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for.
  12. The weekend was crazy here, feeled temperatures at around -30C. Good time to cryo your cables for free. May is average, June is better and July even better with all the festival and sunny hot weather.
  13. I don't think anyone is a douche here, in fact I think it's mostly a problem of communication. In pompon's case, his English sucks badly. In your case, you have some very legitimate concerns IMO, but you might have voiced them a bit too aggressively for some people here, though I thought the reaction to your posts was a bit disproportionate.
  14. I have nothing to add to this whole "debate", but I wanted to point out that this comment is a bit harsh and uncalled for. I've met pompon in real life and while he believes in some pretty esoteric audio gear that I don't care for myself, I hardly see how that makes him a douche. He was a very nice guy to talk with in fact, so I don't get the personnal attack unless there's some event I've missed.
  15. Hah, now I like you. D
  16. Ever heard of Reks basement? You might meet other people there who thought this was a support forum, though they might not be in a good enough physical and mental state to communicate with you.
  17. If you expect headphones to sound better than speakers, it'll be a long series of disappointments. Once you appreciate headphones for what they are though, it can be a very enjoyable experience. With that said, I'm not a big Grado fan myself except for the HP-1000 and PS-1, but I have not heard their newest offerings (HF-2, PS-1000) which seem to be appreciated by many. Spend some time reading here and you'll find most of your questions have already been answered. And welcome btw!
  18. It seems the Dynalo has corrected almost everything I was missing with the JH13 Pro out of the Sansa Clip+. It might seem obvious to many that a good home setup will destroy a cheap portable DAP, but I stand by my opinion that the JH13 Pro out of a budget portable setup sounds better than the vast majority of headphone rigs I've heard. One area where I thought the JH13 were lacking is treble extension, it was like they were struggling to reach the very top. Out of the HA-006+, I can't hear this problem anymore, which is very apparent for percussion instruments like cymbals and higher harmonics of string instruments. Another complaint I had was the relatively small size of the soundstage. With the Dynalo, it's still on the small side, but it's much easier now to locate instruments in space and the stereo separation is miles better. I'd still like a bit more of "around the head" imaging like on some full-size headphones, but it might not be possible on IEMs. Some other things I've noticed so far: the bass has more weight and extends deeper, but isn't necessarily more present in terms of quantity, just tighter, which is exactly what I was looking for. Finally, I'd say the overall presentation has gone a few steps up in terms of intimacy, everything sound much more real, starting with the voices which sound extremely rich and lifelike. Needless to say, I'm very pleased with my purchase.
  19. Manaox2, I agree with some of what you say, but I think you're placing yourself too much in the position of someone who has experience with computers. I bought an iPod Touch to my dad for his birthday and he figured out by himself in a matter of weeks how pretty much everything works. On the other hand, he's still struggling to do basic tasks on his PC after 10 years of using it and calls me every week or so to get technical assistance. The iPad won't change a thing for power users (I hate that expression), in fact it will probably slow down their work flow, but for the average non-technical user, it will be much more intuitive than OS X or Windows and will make their life much easier.
  20. I'm trying my JH13 right now on the Sheer Audio HA-006 (Dynalo) that I received earlier today. Sublime! I've been using my Sansa Clip mostly in the last month with the JH13 and I didn't feel I was missing anything really, but damn was I wrong...
  21. What made you think Head-case is a headphones forum like Head-fi? We mostly discuss bread here... baguettes, bagels, etc.
  22. Nice, Godwin's Law in effect. The more I look at the iPad, the more I find it sexy, but I have a hard time figuring why I'd need one.
  23. I agree that netbooks are crappy, I had a MSI Wind U100 that I sold last week because it was gathering dust since I always favored my MacBook. But I could actually run Matlab and do whatever I wanted on the netbook. No doubt the tablet will be pleasant to use as are all Apple products, but I at least expected a hybrid between iPhone OS ans OS X for 500$+, not a bigger iPhone, but perhaps my expectations were too high and I'm just not the right crowd for this.
  24. So, besides the slick form factor, I don't see anything the iPad does that a netbook doesn't at a much smaller price. No multitasking on a 500-900$ computer is a big fail in my book.
  25. Good point, but I figured if MacBooks and iPhones have cameras, they'd put one on this too. Did they say anything about Finder or some kind of file explorer?
