  2. The V99 has caused me days worth of trouble at this point. It seems to be unable to render VAC across a HV line. I was checking the line for ripple and kept getting like 30VAC. The DCV were correctly displayed. After pulling parts, and hair I used my Keithley and bam, no ripple. Not happy about that at the moment. The funny thing was, this was setup to a CCS that I was working on and I kept thinking to my self, wow this is an amazing CCS if it isn't balking at 30VAC on its input
  3. I think you're doing it wrong, you must rhyme to not get the gong.
  4. The above is nice Al, in a strange way it reminds me of an Aviation. This next is...... A little weird. Earthquake Cocktail (Stork) 1 oz bourbon (vintage was a waste here, Old Overholt anyone?) 1 oz gin (cheaper the better) .75 oz absinthe (splurge here) Shake and don't strain. Hmmmmm... It's .... Off.
  5. Lorraine Cocktail (Stork) 1.75 oz kirsch 0.25 oz Benedictine Juice of half a lime Probably no surprise that I like this one. The Clear Creek Kirsch is nice and complex and this makes an interesting drink with more depth than you would expect!
  6. Also, is there an AC component on the rails?
  7. In the case of a plate CCS, is evaluating the performance of the CCS pretty much the same as evaluating the performance of the amplifier? All I can think it to measure distortion on the plate, and since that where the output is taken... Also, I similarly assume that a oscillating CCS isn't really discernible from a oscillating amplifier for the same reason?
  8. I'd omit it, or chassis if you must. This might help: http://www.rane.com/note110.html
  9. I would try and omit the ground between the attenuator board and the amp. The amp should be happy with a true differential input. I'd add a ground loop breaker between the PSU ground and earth. I use a pair of anti-parallel diodes, but a resistor works too.
  10. Excellent, neither did I. It wasn't a leading statement, just one with insufficient clarification.
  11. So, wait, you did hint at shit and pounce? I'm sorry, that was the question.
  12. Where does the manual say extra connections provide more points of failure?
  13. Kinda like you hinted I was wrong with the extra connections and then pounced on the point of failure nonsense? fuck off.
  14. My suggestion stands. Your tone irked me.
  15. Why not the increased common mode rejection (or emi/rfi) the third conductor adds for the length of the cable jackass? It will measure better, trust me I have compared the two.
  16. No, because it doesn't matter how many connectors you use. Do you think you could actually hear a difference between a few extra inches of wire and some bits of metal?
  17. Nah, you are good man. The best choice would probably be TRS to XLR then a XLR to RCA converter.
  18. Grawk. Nice! What about adding some boiling water and making a toddy of sorts?
  19. Will a GS-X fit on that desk?
  20. Actually, I believe you want TRS to XLR cables. Anyone tried the transformer upgrade?
  21. Kentucky Vodka is yummy. Anyone tried the Bison Grass Vodka?
  22. Macking around, eh? Another giant Paloma with the rest of that Tequila above.
  23. Paloma 2 oz Reposado Tequila 0.5 oz lime juice 4 oz Mexican grapefruit soda Pinch of salt
  24. I'd like to try one as well. What do they go for on the used market? I've gotten good TRS to RCA cables for my test setup from some Ebay sellers. I mean good as in they measure below the noise floor of my test gear. Canare, Belden, etc. wire is what they use. If you want specific recommendations, I can find some for ya. If you want something that your audiophile friends won't make fun of, I'd recommend DH Labs wire and cable. In fact, I had some made up at Moon Audio for just about what it would have cost me to do it myself.
