  1. Yeah, Velvia 50 looks amazing. What do you use to scan in your 35mm photos? I wish I could afford getting that 9000ED right off the bat, but I can't justify such a purchase when I don't shoot MF yet. I've heard that Hasselblads have severly fallen in price recently, and I've heard good things about Maymia (is that the right spelling?). What do you have your eyes on?
  2. Does he have a preference for the type of TV? I'm loving my $1800 60" LCoS tv by Sony.
  3. Nice. I wish I had the space for a darkroom. Then again, only one of the films that I shoot can be developed by me. (I shoot Fomapan B&W reversal, DR5...I don't think I could develop that. I also shoot Kodachrome and Fuji Velvia 50. 35mm) What do you shoot? 35mm and medium format? It would be nice to be able to make my own prints, though. I'm thinking of getting a Nikon 5000 ED, so I can finally start getting prints again.
  4. I've always just used compressed air to blow dust and etc. out of transports in stuff like game consoles, dvd players, PC cd/dvd drives. If the laser diode is really dirty, I'll use one of those microfiber clothes that are marketed as monitor and lens cleaners.
  5. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360035741768&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123 $175 for malfunctioning K500's. What the hell.
  6. I really wanted one of those, but I've been hearing that it transcodes the video to hell, making it blocky and terrible to watch with high-speed stuff (like sports), and text is really hard to read. Any truth to that, or are people just pulling crap out of their asses?
  7. The Sharp Aquos LCD's are REALLY nice. Great black levels.
  8. Outside of the average Joe, most people (like us, on forums) think Monster cable is crap. The debate is over the high-end stuff...
  9. I just thought it would be a more useful test if they had included more than three different cables.
  10. I always thought that. Then a few days ago, someone said the above. So I'm really not sure. :\ UPS, FedEx, and DHL are all pretty much the same for me.
  11. I only use USPS when shipping or buying now. I've heard that ALL the shippers, USPS, FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.'s tracking is just guesstimated, and it lists where the package should be, but not where it actually is, besides when it is delivered. Is there any truth to that?
  12. I would love to see socialized health care in the US, but I just cannot see us doing it. People don't want higher taxes, the government doesn't want to cut the military budget, etc. If someone could get it to work, I would applaud them. I have health care through my work, but it's a nightmare...
  13. I love my LiveWires. They are insanely comfortable. They don't isolate as well as my Shures did, though.
  14. I don't know, having to get rid of a monitor in addition to a machine never really appealed to me. I don't like the Dell XPS One, iMacs, etc. And, personally, I don't think there is a better keyboard than an IBM Model M. Those things are tanks. I got a camera bag recently...It's freaking huge, though.
  15. Why is that flash pointed forward? I notice you have a diffuser/whatever on it, but still.

    AKG K500

I've never heard of those. What were they?
  17. That metronome looks mighty tasty on the Opus page...but I just don't want to shell out for it.
  18. I'm sorry, bad phrasing on my part. What I meant was, when the power goes out and the battery comes on, you're just supposed to use the batter power to finish whatever task you're working on and shut off your PC, and yes, it does screw up sound if you try to listen to music while the battery is on. At least, on my weird off-brand one.
  19. If that one doesn't work out for you, I find gomadic makes quality stuff. (Look, I'm shilling again.) I just bought some Kodachrome, Fuji Velvia 50, Fomapan R100, a 35mm slide viewer, and a UV filter for my camera.
