I think the RP diaphragm is initially tight, and as it's a clamped/glued assembly in a square, I believe they need a good couple of days high SPL playing to bed them in and loosen them up to where they perform best. The sound improves a lot over new and then you apply some heavy duty damping to the baffle and cup along with a little felt for absorption and maybe a small reflex dot and they sing beautifully. Of course they do sound different from the Yammys and which you prefer is a matter of personal prefs. However, these are new, easily available and probably very easy to do a standardised modding checklist. It's a winner all around. Especially for those of us who really need circum phones for long term listening. Supras can't generally stay on my ears for any more than an hour or two. I love them Ludo, you crazy loon, everyone knows you need a line array to make it moar better. You can fit at least another 5 per side there

Hiya Don It's a veritable flood of othofontists. Is an orthodontist someone who cut his teeth with orthos?

Circuit City folds
I just had a look online at their 'sale' prices, same as every other place.

Bloody Hell -- Raal ribbon headphones
Hmm, those are definitely not the type they made for their headphones. Those things look the size of housebricks. I just looked at the dimensions, 8x3x4" and over 6Ib each

Voltron my metal friend, I think you have it surrounded! Food rules in Britain resemble cricket in the level of confusion it can generate. In school we had lunchtime announced with a dinner bell. Breakfast has always been just that since it was invented. Tea time and dinner time are interchangeable (unless you're in a school with a dinner bell) Terminology also changes with circumstance as some call tea a smaller meal and dinner a bigger one even though they can occur at the same time of day.. Of course, it's well known that Scottish food times are always inferior to their English counterparts. Our food is also better than food costing much more, especially that food (sic) from jock-stap land. Signed JB

They want to keep focused on their speakers and not get sidetracked with a headphone they're not sure would even sell. So no clue on timeline or potential price.. if they ever do go into any kind of production. That's why we'd be happy to take over the testing stages for them

$90 each is a bit steep, not knowing if they'd even be any good as headphones. Raal already has a proto that works so we want it

Grrrrr..... I demand a recount! I can't wait to get an HP/YH3 or 50, should be fun playing with them. I'm gonna copy what you did to see if I can finally get a Yammy that tweaks my nipples I just have to wait until everyone buys the RP so the prices come down

They'd need to be pretty small and light. I looked into the availability of buying Raal ribbons but it seems they're not sold separately. I'd love to get my sticky mitts on a pair of them.

Well, bugger! if they want someone to research the possibilities of these drivers, they can ship 'em my way. I'd be quite happy to do some research on them

New, mine sounded nice, nothing spectacular by any means. After a few days of heavy blasting to loosen them up and fixing that crappy housing they are stupendous. Very smooth, deep and sparkling highs. I still don't have and never heard a Yammy HP/YH3 so I'll reserve judgment on those until I get the chance of a pair. It's now the only Yammy I still want. The 1000 would probably be good too but they'll never be available at a sane price.

I've been waiting to see if anything was ever going to happen with those. Nothing but crickets chirping.......

I took one of my cats to the vet this morning, they still don't know what the problem is but they're trying to stop me worrying about the cat by giving me a $400 bill to worry about instead. Fuck, vets are expensive. I can see this easily going skywards past $1000 in no time

I'm sure whatever you can manage will be fine, as long as you get a decent lens and get those closeups we want Remember Dusty, we're all counting on you..... and I know you wouldn't dream of letting the side down [/guilt-trip] hehe

Apogee Mini-DAC HP out vs Headfive via XLR->RCA
Yeah, I gotta get me an M3 one of these days, or finally build a SS.

The Orthodynamic Thread
I want to know what the differences are because the driver specs are different in power handling and some other minor stuff. It'd be great to get a closeup of the circuit board to see if anything there can be differentiated.
