Bleh, I now have so many friggin phones here I can't even think. My newest ranking is 1- everything I like 2- everything I don't like. That was way easier. It's like every time I put one of my phones on I'm all like, woah, man. This is like, soo cool, these phones rock. Then I put on another set and it's like, these phones are like sooo cool. Then I put on another set and it's like...... Yeah, my phones are all fucking awesome! Like, totally.

Heh, that's the layer of the 'liquid nails' glue I spread over it.

Hey, epoxy putty is sekseh stuff
-
You can get epoxy putty at many places like art supply shops and Lowes etc. They come in various sizes, single or two part. It's basically a putty-like substance which is a two part epoxy than you mash together and mold into whatever shape you want. They have different set times from 5 min to 20 hours. I prefer the 20 minute stuff from woodcraft. It comes as a stick with resin and hadner together in one. Cut a piece off and mush it until it's an even shade and apply. Buy Quickwood Epoxy Putty, Neutral, 2 Ounces, Quikwood Epoxy Putty , Fillers - I have the 5-min lowes stuff, the 20-min woodcraft stuff and the two tub 20 hour Apoxie Sculpt from Blick art supplies. It's glue/filler/structure stuff alll in one. Really good shit you can sand, drill, file and build up. Sets like concrete. I've used it on numerous phones to build up various shapes like the ear wedge on the NAD RP18 which has a brown leather strip on it to hide the putty.

Mine were a gift from Ludo and Kabeer. They snuck it on me when I wasn't looking Fostex T50RP Closed Studio Headphone | BSWUSA.com I already did some mods to mine (pics on H-F) and they sound spiffy.
-
Ok boys and girls, my T50RP just arrived in the mail and srsly, these are indeed nice. Given they're about the same price as a SR 60 I say you really can't go far wrong here. They are very nice even from very mediocre sources unmodded. Should you get a set? Hell yeah, cheap and new and good and ortho all at once! These are about as bargain basement as it gets price-wise but certainly not sound-wise. I still have to try them from a powerful amp and decent source but yeah, they are damn nice and damn cheap. What's not to love? A little modding and they'll be awesome.

Great news, it seems like you made the right choice. They can sound absolutely sublime when fed properly. Enjoy.

Drop me a pm with price pls.

Your logic is impeccable my dear elephas, though I've never heard an O2 so cannot verify. It does seem to be the impression I get though many deny this is the case. However, many say the Senn isn't dark either, even though it is.

Reksy me old fruit, Happy Birthday you old fucker

I do a finger adjustment too, my fave position is first index finger knuckle width from my ear flap to cage when the finger is inserted from behind as I grasp the cage. Very quick and easily repeatable. Takes all of about 3 seconds per side and very accurate.

It'll be fun finding out if their flavor status is justified or not. Shit, if they're even half decent, $70 isn't bad, I paid that much for a YH-2 that everyone said sucks.
-
Yeah, it seems the bad rap on the current line was just the shit pads. Unsurprising given my pad experiences, they can easily make or break any ortho. Fostex made a poor choice that has now been rectified. Schweet!
-
Indeed, not sterile to my ears. They're very good sounding, fast, detailed and a very good overall balance. I don't know where they got this 'sterile/metallic' label from. Maybe they just had bad gear mismatches, mine sound fucking sweet and I'd rather listen to a K1K from my DAP than a 580/600 from a top end setup. Good luck with the B22, hopefully it's not fucked up in any expensive way.

All ours vanished over the weekend and it's back to normal rainy shit here in Seattle. I miss the snow already

old, looks like the same crappy pads you can buy on ebay for $6 a pop.
-
Heh, the Karma drives my T50v2 very nicely, if not excessively loud. It runs the T40 awesomely.
-
It seems there's going to be a spurt on these, soon there will be four or five of us with them. Could be the start of something special. It'd be funny to think of all the potential sales they lost due to nothing more than shitty pads on an otherwise great headphone. Relatively speaking, cheap as shit too when you think for that money you can only get a lowly Grado SR-60 (blech!) and most other phones under $100 suck donkey balls. They may turn out to be the killer deal of the century and possibly better than most other orthos too. It'd be nice not having to scour ebay et al and scrap it out with everyone else to get a good ortho for a decent price.
-
Thank you my darling Before anything else I guess I should say my top requirements are SQ and output power. The Karma has quite a good amp in it and drives my K1000 and most of my orthos to good levels. So strong output is pretty much mandatory as all my 'normal' phones are power sucking orthos. The Teclast looks interesting, I'll pop you a PM.
-
Gah, I gotta buy a new DAP soon. My Rio Karma headphone socket is very loose and the 'up' volume button is getting flaky. Pity, the Karma is awesome and I refuse to buy a damn ipud!
-
Yeah, shit, even a wind up record player will do for now. C'mon Stave, where's your sense of adventure. Leaving them in the box is not an option, get that ipud cranking

Coolies, nice going Kabeer Spritzer, if you have any more spare I might need to take them off your hands later.
