They are a pretty thick normal looking black cable... 14awg and shielded... I would stick with a nice 16awg shielded cable for your dac/source but it could not hurt to use on an amp. I have thried quite a few DIY and aftermarket cables and really like these a lot. You cant go wrong, especially for the price. Philodox - I have an extra laying around if you would like it, that goes for anyone... just shoot me a PM.

Vampire make pretty decent and reasonably priced plugs... I know Takefiveaudio.com has them.

I highly recommend the Volex cables. I think you can squeez in 1 or 2,3,4,5,6.... with your budget

I understand the reasoning behind doing so but in my system I am not looking for the "best" or most accurate. I am looking for what sounds "best" to me... and I like being able to use various cables to tweek the sound to just how I want it...

I had the two for some time. The DA10 as every bit as much detail and clarity as the DAC1 but does not have the cold sterile sound. The DA10 is very smooth but dont not sacrifice any detail and clarity. It is very plesent to listen to.

I hear the little latch box sounds better then the bigger latch... something about it being more delicate.
