  1. You know, if you let your eyes diverge while staring at that wallpaper (like you would if you were looking at a stereogram), it develops a kind of a three-dimensionality.
  2. How about "took receipt of"? I just took receipt of two blankets (one for my sister) and a pimp coat.
  3. x4 -- they're one of the cleanest headphones I own, if not the cleanest.
  4. Yeah -- I agree that the long coax run sounds like a bad idea. Another possibility (albeit kludgey) would be to get an external soundcard (which is essentially what the Squeezebox is), and make half the run your Firewire or USB cable, and the other half your coax -- I.E. put the box halfway where it's going. (Or [roughly] a third -- firewire/USB; digital cable; analog cable.) This would have the additional benefit of getting it away from the computer.
  5. Yeah baby!!!onesies-twosies!
  6. By themselves, as in the pic, I agree, but I suspect the effect would be more subdued in the context of the cables. Imagine them on an otherwise all-black cable, for instance, I suspect that would look pretty hot.
  7. Trying both of those, thanks (I'm a windows and linux guy).
  8. Does anyone know of a program in which a novice graphics artist could get started? I have an idea for the logo for my band, and I wouldn't mind being able to create a rough (computer) sketch of it.
  9. Okay, I'm twenty minutes into my first episode (episode #2), and I already love this show.
  10. I just pictured a Mr. Eggplant-Head and lollered.
  11. Dew et.
  12. Thanks for the info. Yeah, I know I was derailing the thread a little bit, but I have a home studio and like to drool over high-end pro gear as well as high-end home gear...will have to find a way to hear those Barefoots...but if I win the lottery, I'm definitely getting those Focals... Back to your regularly scheduled computer speakers thread. Biggie -- it's actually not a bad idea to think about active pro speakers for your computer rig, if you want really good sound -- most of them are designed for nearfield listening, which is what one does at a computer. I'm actually using Quad 12L actives for my computer speakers here at work. And the shielded is a good idea, too, to keep the "dirty" computer environment away from the high-end electronics of the active speaker, and vice versa.
  13. Have you heard the Focals? I am a big fan of Focal, but have never found anyone who's actually heard the pro active monitors. Seems they should be good.
  14. Yeah, it's quite eye-catching in person, too.
  15. Response #1: I upped my standards; up yours. Response #2: I'm not sure that's possible, my standards are pretty freakin' low. And thanks for the response.
  16. Technically, yes (in that his last name is Baldwin), although according to this page, he's not, in the way that you mean (if you mean that he's related to the other Baldwin brothers that are famous in Hollywood). Although I only just found that out, myself. He's also wonderful as Marcus Hamilton in Season 5 of Angel.
  17. ...and photoshop, and airbrushing, and...
  18. She's alright. For: slavic Against: blonde Re: episodes -- meh, I don't watch TV...wait a minute, Jayne is on the show (Adam Baldwin)? That makes it worth watching right there. "Also, I didn't want to miss any gunplay." I think I like it already -- is this out on DVD? Never mind, I can google/ask Hirsch (Hirsch knows about DVDs).
  19. (wanders off to google Chuck Sarah)
  20. No, please do. I can't make fun of you if you don't play straight man once in a while. And technically, I wasn't making fun of you -- you knew what you (were) doing. I was just providing counterpoint to deepak's criticism. Elephas -- nah, I'm too much of a prick sometimes to qualify for "teh awsum!"
  21. Yes, please do let us know, that looks very interesting.
  22. Yeah, that's probably the best part -- I auditioned it briefly in the store, and for US$100, I can't think of a better system.
  23. Entire DVD "shelf system" at CostCo for US$100 (now)/US$150 (normally)
  24. Just watched Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon -- fucking brilliant. After Scream, I didn't think slasher flicks could be deconstructed again, but they did, and brilliantly. And then, they undeconstructed it -- in other words, they made an actual watchable movie underneath -- the one that was the vehicle for the deconstruction.
  25. And that's saying a lot, because the 3910 already sounds really good.
