  1. Good Plans. Nothing worse on a trip than a giant MBP, except a fat-ass Dell.
  2. I'll be interested to see what the battery life numbers are with the new processors.
  3. I think I will wait for them to get more than 5 hours battery life.
  4. Not really, but I'm not wedded to it. I also like to know what I am worth on the job market, although usually that is a bit depressing. Thanks Steve. I've actually been to Anchorage twice before, but for a relatively short time. I liked it a lot and always thought it would not be a bad place to live at all. Yes, yes I am. Ecological genetics and biostatistics and it is a wildlife statistician position. I cannot fundamentally disagree with that statement. The likelihood is that nothing will come of it.
  5. Let me know when both of these are happening and I will try to escape from The Land of Shite Beer.
  6. Congrats Brother-of-Dan! Yesterday Karen left to be part of an EPA panel in DC. So Peter and I had a nice father and son day. Dropped him off at school in the morning and then puttered around the house trying to get things knocked off the honey-do list. Picked him up a bit early from the after-school program so we could get in 1 1/2 hours of Lego Pirates of the Caribbean on the Wii. Then off to soccer practice and then dinner at Los Potrillos. Came home got him bathed read some magic tree house and off to bed. I was frickin' exhausted. Currently working on an application for a statistician position with the Feds out of Anchorage. Not sure if I will really send it but I need to update my CV anyway, so what the hell.
  7. Yeah, I originally tried the A2s on the Tyll designed Headroom stands (still one of the best audio purchases I have ever made) and saying they sounded like ass was being kind. Few things in audio have been night and day differences to me but the A5s vs the A2s is definitely one. No side by side necessary or blind test needed here. (waiting for the )
  8. One should not skimp on the shitter.
  9. A very Happy Birthday Chris. Have a great one.
  10. You really don't get it. People have no problem with your measurements, the problem is
  11. Nice. And your cherries too. I may go with that Liberal later Shelly, it looks good. I decided to try something from Left Coast Libations. AKA Burro Punsch 1 1/2 oz Reposado tequila 1/2 oz Carpano Antica 1/2 oz Ramazotti amaro 1/4 oz Batavia Arrack Your favorite ginger beer Stir all ingredients except ginger beer with ice. Add about 1/2 oz ginger beer and stir lightly. Put one large cube of ice in a double old-fashioned glass and arrange 3 or 4 orange slices between the ice cube and the sides of the glass. Strain the drink into the glass. Tasty and not for the feint of heart, douches or NWAVGuy. Forgot to say this recipe is from David Shenaut of the Teardrop Lounge in Portland, OR.
  12. Only if they both like taking random pot shots at Yogi Bear.
  13. Outstanding!
  14. That rye festival looks kick-ass Dinny. Hoozah!
  15. I think Old Raj approves of that Last Word, Shelly. That may be my favorite drink using Maraschino liquor, limes on the shopping list for tomorrow. All three?
  16. Karen decided it is a good day to drink so we are having a pair of Blackwoods and Luksosowa Vespers.
  17. Looking for something smaller and more svelte (unlike me) for the MBA.
  18. Anybody here have any experience using BRISK as a Latex alternative for mathematical expressions?
  19. I'd definitely go with the veal.
  20. A German beer that I like
