  1. The exchange program sounds intriguing. Only the green chartreuse in the WKs here.
  2. Yep, I like the Widow's Kiss (cocktail). Right now I have, and like, Calvados Morice. I like to try new things so let me know the brand you like. I love that flask of Chartreuse! Nice improvisation Al! How is the Bourye? Sounds interesting but I have not tried it.
  3. A Carthusian with equal parts (3/4 oz) Punt E Mes and Green Chartreuse. I like this one better than the ones the other night.
  4. If I get tenure this spring, Fuckface will definitely work it's way back into my classroom vocabulary. BTW that was a great scene.
  5. Some Gnarly Head Old Vine Zin with dinner. Nice beer and nice view Al.
  6. Yes I have and I cannot disagree with your assessment.
  7. How did I miss this thread? Downloading now.
  8. Happy Birthday Cooking Man!
  9. Heh, beat me to it.
  10. Nice Al and Marc. Definitely have to get back to SFO for a more extensive bar tour. I still prefer the Cocchi in a Vesper but if all I had was gin, vodka and Lillet Blanc, I could be happy. You are definitely living up to your screen name Mikey as that is a mad selection of whisky, not to mention that H-C sized glass. Laphroaig QC is definitely good stuff Shelly (Note to self: Drink more to make room for some Laphroaig QC).
  11. Lets plan on about 12 years from now.
  12. Happy Birthday to one of the good guys. BTW where do you keep that white Stetson?
  13. Two Carthusian Cocktails ala B&B 2 oz Rendevous Rye 0.75 oz Punt e Mes 0.5 oz Green Chartreuse 2 dashes Fees orange bitters Stir until cold and strain into a coupe. Garnish with a lemon zest twist. The second one has the the amounts for the Punt e Mes and Chartreuse swapped. Not nearly as good as the one at B&B because it is missing one crucial ingredient, the most excellent company. Still it is an awesome cocktail and I prefer the one that leans toward the Punt e Mes.
  14. Excellent post Al. After my Carthusian explorations I will be exploring the lesser known drink neighborhoods of the NYC metro area. All I need is Cynar.
  15. Aha, so it is a slightly modified greenpoint. Interesting as it is not the same as the recipe I found for a Carthusian on the web. We need scientific standardization of cocktail names!
  16. Snakes are cool. Live snakes are cooler, but live poisonous snakes are not a good idea with a 6 year old in the house, so I make due. The only thing remotely snake-oil in this rig is the PS Audio power cable. But that was bought from one of the numerous PS Audio fire sales. The AA HPA is a remarkably good amp, especially with the HC Team Overkill PSU.
  17. Well done sir, well done.
  18. :jbl: Happy Happy Birthday Birthday Gentlemen Gentlemen :jbl:
  19. Excellent. I have all the ingredients, except I will use a different rye (several over the next few days ) and will try with swapped proportions for the Punt e mes and the Green Chartreuse. I owe you for this, it was killing me.
  20. All the cool dads have remotes for their mugs.
  21. I used green chartreuse in the final ward because I do not have any yellow and the green is 110 proof and the yellow is only 80 proof and this is Head-case after all. Edit: Shelly is correct, as usual. That is a nice picture of the Carthusian. I hope B&B was as good this time as it was when we went.
  22. Absolutely a great bargain and it certainly makes me wonder at the prices of some other gear. The DAC is nice but the mug is nicer.
  23. Too early to tell but it is certainly at least as good as the DACmagic. The build quality is certainly better than the DACmagic.
