  1. Well, I guess I am either more pragmatic or less noble than you, depending on ones perspective Totally agree with that. Vendor pricing will not just be based upon space, but likely also by the number of vendor badges requested over and above some maximum number. If he wants an army of monster drones, fine, as long as they all have vendor badges. Intersteller criminals will be banned and we can place tire spikes at the entrance of all the rooms Everything is negotiable.
  2. Bastard! (As he feels a deep stabbing pain in his wallet). Unfortunately for me I wholeheartedly agree with that assessment.
  3. So if Dan doesn't want it drop me a PM. I need to replace my touch that went for an unintended swim.
  4. Me too. I discovered on Friday that my chest waders have a nice leak and I left my touch in my pocket . Currently DOA with little likelihood of revival.
  5. No harshness IMO. They sounded to me most like a less bassy PS-1. Some people likened them to HP-1000s but they still sound more like John and not Joe Grado can to me.

I'll probably get one for my MS-Pros. Depending on how I like it I may get one for the HF-2s.
  7. A little birdie told me that at least for the near future it will remain as CanJam.
  8. x3. It seems to have missed the boat by a few years.
  9. Buon Compleanno! Dino.
  10. Yeah KG's statement was quite interesting to me. Listening to the HD800 out of either the Headroom Balanced Ultra-Desktop or the Millett 307A, I definitely preferred the sound out of the Headroom amp. Then the Balancing Act threw a monkey in the wrench. Even though it is a 307A based amp, I preferred it to either of the other amps. So right now the inductive nature may certainly be a factor, but I do not think it is the whole story. It lets you hear your upstream gear very clearly and some people like that while others may find it "disturbing" depending on what that upstream gear is actually doing to the music. P.S. It's the HR desktop portable 2007 (latest) version.
  11. Steve Earle - Townes (Deluxe Edition)
  12. Well my GS-X arrived home today from its trip to CanJam (seems to be less wear on the amp from the trip than on me). The relevant point for this thread is that along with the amp was another box with a D100 for a nice in-home demo.

  14. Very, very nice. My MS-Pro's are weeping.
  15. Fine by me.
  16. Welcome Wayne, don't forget to duck.
  17. The buffalo board is in back right. Just left of it is a 4:1 MUX SPDIF board for switching between digital inputs. In front of those two boards are two LCBPS and one LCDPS board. Then the three trannies, all 15VA load, 2 with 15+15V secondaries (for the LCBPS's) and one with 9+9 V secondaries (for the LCDPS). On the back panel is the small toslink input board and underneath he is using the board from an M-audio transit for USB input. The black box is a relay for the power switch. That's about $900 and then there is the casework and connectors plus I probably missed a few other pieces/parts so $1000 is pretty minimal. $1200 - $1500 is not an unreasonable cost estimate. I'm not sure what you mean by the reclocking board as the ESS chip does the reclocking. Oh and it is even more impressive seeing it in person. I can only aspire to such build quality.
  18. I haven't enjoyed hanging with a group of crazies this much in a long time. Thanks to everyone and you are more than welcome, Pete and Dan.
  19. Very Nice DOTU. As for me: One LA Superstar T-shirt, childrens small One Schleich Spinosaurus One Schleich Triceratops One Ty SpongeBob One Ty Patrick One pair of Grado flat pads
  20. Well they have been transmitted, just not yet in this universe.
  21. But that's the beauty, the negative time smearing cancels out the positive time smearing and there you have it, no time smearing.
  22. I prefer the Ultra-Moar Black, GS (gravitational singularity) cable. A truly awesome cable, absolutely no time smearing as the bits actually arrive before they leave.
  23. Wow what a thoroughly great and exhausting weekend. This was a superbly organized event and the California crew (jpnums, 909, Iron_dreamer, LFF, augsburger, Jasper994 and Edwood) did a great job and always went the extra mile to make sure everyone had a great time. Still, the best thing was meeting everyone. It was truly amazing but all the HCers that I met for the first time were exactly like their online persona's, goes to show you the value of open discussion. I apologize for not saying so long to everyone on Sunday evening. But in my defense, it was 2:30 AM, I was a slow walking zombie, I did have to leave for the airport at 4:30 AM. I'll buy you all a round next year (or sooner) to make up for it. I think these have now been retitled, "The Basement Talks".
  24. Not gonna happen with those mercury vapor tubes for many, many reasons.
