  1. Drove to Isle of Palms. Checked into the Boardwalk Inn at the Wild Dunes Resort. Hung out by the pool and beach all day drinking Palmetto pale ales. Then we went to dinner. Started off with she-crab soup then shrimp and grits with a side of bleu cheese cole slaw. Washed it down with a couple of Shock Tops. Life is good and so is Priceline.
  2. The Neko can be hard to compare to other DAC's without volume matching. The passive output stage can make it a lot quieter than units with a hotter output. Plus it is one of those components that does not wow on first listen and requires some extended listening to really get a feel for how it performs. Notice, I am being completely uninformative as to my opinion as I feel I need to listen to it more.
  3. See, variation again. I know for a fact that certain biological testing units need whiskey for proper calibration.
  4. Unless you are red-green color blind. On point, individual variation also plays a large part when dealing with biological entities. I will help out on any dbt in any way I can.
  5. Very manly vehicle.
  6. No I think he's a scarecrow, so he needs a brain.
  7. From ipodbj who is not bright but makes up for it by being irritating.
  8. On topic: I had contacted RAM about some mods to my CA 840C. I had a bad feeling due to them not really answering my questions and instead using some weird techno-speak that as far as I can tell is a derivative of pig-latin. Off topic: Does the PS Audio have a 176.4 upsampling option? If so, give that a try when the 192 kHz seems a bit too digital or harsh. I pretty much use that over 192 KHz most of the time.
  9. on the beer. Tied for my fave with Schneiderweise
  10. Good luck with that. I absolutely hated Organic Chemistry (Still do). But I do love hefeweizens. Which one?
  11. OK, healthy scepticism is what differentiates HC and HF.
  12. My point was that this is not an I2S interface issue as I2S carries PCM not DSD (PDM) data, thus the length limitations of I2S are not relevant to this connection. Only 90% sure on this so I'm certainly willing to be proven (not browbeaten) wrong.
  13. True but the length limitation on transmitting data via I2S may not be relevant here.

  15. At HC, thread derailing has become an art form unto itself.
  16. Hmm, not to sure about that. It is digital data but it would not really be an I2S connection as it is the DSD data that is being tapped into from the Denon not PCM based data. Unfortunately all my notes and such are back in IL so I will not have access to them until late next week. Im pretty sure Russ' ghetto connection using alligator clips was quite a bit longer than 6 inches, but then again I am male.
  17. You should be able to do it with any of the 19xx series. I have a an $89 1930 and it looks identical to the 1910 image. How are you planning to get the data to the Buffalo? i.e. what kind of connector?
  18. I've always preferred cable escalators myself.

  20. Wow, I've been gone a few days and it looks like all the shit has hit the fan. Sorry to hear that about the SDS. At least yours appeared to be wired much better than a lot of the SP exercises in chaos theory. I'm sure there are a few good techs out there that can work on these. Oh, and bourbon is the preferred drink down here (currently in SC) when it is 95+ for both the temperature and relative humidity.
  21. On my ES-1 I no longer use the 2c51's and adaptors as I have had problems biasing the amp at times when I was using them. The 3D21 and 12Ax7 adapters seem to work fine.
  22. Yep, I believe we are actually saying pretty much the same thing. Now, writing elegant code, that requires experience.
