It's just a solid piece of metal that the glue holds the pads to. You can probably just rub the glue off with your fingers or whatever other method that won't scratch the metal, and make sure the rubbed off glue doesn't fall into the drivers as it may be hard to get out through the screen.

Either their meter or piano is messed up, and so are their ears. I wouldn't trust anyone's opinion on anything hearing related when they admit to listening to 120 dB peaks. My opinion is that the bass hump is worse than the upper midrange/low treble peak (if you mention etch I may have to cut a bitch). I'm also of the opinion that the 404 isn't nearly as bad as a lot of people make it out to be, though.

There's no way in hell a concert grand reaches 120dB. The performer would long go deaf, especially if he/she is any good and practices 8-10 hours a day. That's not even considering the fact that you're supposed to be in the audience. Also 120 dB peaks means what, around 100dB "normal" volume? And that's for well recorded material. You've got to be shitting me. Apparently you're wrong.
