Pretty much echos my own very limited experience to date. Seems to me, listening now and flicking off and on, that the individual instrumental elements just stand out a little more obviously? Took your advice Al and called SS and they got me going. Nice guys.

Got 1.1 installed. Still have the random cut outs because SS have to manually register my iLok key at their end, which is kind of a pain and I guess will take a while. But even running in demo mode the general effect is certainly audible and enjoyable. Uses a fairly consistent 480MB of RAM and around 4% of CPU cycles, both of which I can happily spare.

Some of those guys are seriously fucked in the head. USB cable rollers of the world, unite!

^^^ And then? Time for me to hop on the bandwagon and get Amarra Mini. Will wait for the vinyl ripping plug-in to be released before deciding about the full version. EDIT: And hooray, it's on sale right now for $295 on the SS Web site.

There's definitely a lot less initial mucking about with a Mac + iTunes. Can't comment on Amarra 'cause I haven't bought it yet. Memo to self go get an iLok from Office Depot today.

Well, didn't buy. Was given, by my loved ones. A bone-handled Laguiole waiters corkscrew and one of those giant Honeywell air purifiers. So I guess I drink a fair bit of wine and ... fart a lot? Bought my wife an iPod touch. She spent a half hour playing with it and delivered this review: "God I hate my Blackberry now." And so the groundwork was laid for the advent of the iSlate.
