I did a comparison between a couple of aftermarket cables with the 650's using a GS-1 and the differences between cables was easy to hear. When it comes to IC's, I've never heard much of a difference.

Same here but at $129, compared to $695 for Amarra, it's not a bad deal. Listening to the JH13's out of the Amarra 4 headphone out and it is the best I've heard the JH13 out of an amp. It's dead quiet with the source paused. While, at $4000 retail for the Amarra 4, when you consider it's your source, preamp, phono pre and headphone amp, and damn good at all of them, it's not a bad deal.

It's good thing there is no shortage of beer in Denver.

It is but the difference between starting then or an hour or two later is huge in terms of the heat.

I'm using the Pure Music Demo at the moment and will be buying it in another day. I like it so far. From what I've read it's a toss up as to which is better, Amarra or Pure Music. I figure at $129, if I am convinced later that Amarra is better Im not out of pocket as much as if I started with Amarra. JH13 > Anything Stax, especially the O2.

I'm a big fan of the show. I didn't watch it when it first came out. I happened to turn on the last episode of the second season, not knowing it was the last show, enjoyed it and watched the first season through Netflix and bought the second season on iTunes.

I find Columbian, Mexican, Costa Rican coffees to be on the mild side. You may want to stay away for Starbucks if you are buying a cup in a store. They brew their regular coffee way too strong in my opinion. I tend to buy Starbucks, Seatles Best, and Peets since I can get them in the supermarket. Intelligentsia out of Chicago is one of my favorite coffees.

That's why they pay you the big bucks. Besides, I've had a few for New Years.

I guess it's like most things, you need to get used to it and once you do, it's not a problem. Even my gas smoker fluctuates from time to time depending on weather conditions and I have to adjust.

I saw that last night while doing some research on this stuff.

I guess I need to look into the Traeger grills. Marc, how do they compare in terms of price to the XL Egg?

My concern was with temperature control, which is done by opening and closing a lower vent and one at the top. While it can fluctuate a bit, maybe 25 degrees, apparently it does not effect the finished product. Maybe you can ask your friends whether that has been an issue.

So far, got up at 5:30 to start the smoker, waited 30 minutes until the thunderstorm stopped, fired up the smoker and added two 5 pound briskets for Rosh Hashanah dinner tonight..

I guess whether any issues with reliability. I've read some people have issues with cracks in the firebox. The fact he brags about it all the time suggests that he's pretty happy with it which is the kind of thing I was looking for. Marc, I will look up the Traeger. Reks, if you mean by campfire, a big ceramic egg that is green in color, nope. KG, thanks, that's the kind of stuff I wanted to hear.

Thanks, I've been reading some of the stuff out there and it has an almost cult like status.

I'm looking into buying one of these after doing some reading. I was curious if anyone owns one, has used one or has any knowledge regarding The Big Green Egg.
