So seeing as I have to have a monitor in any case, would an iMac be a good solution as well? Assuming it's capable of running Mountain Lion well.

For us non-Mac types what would be a good one to look for on the cheap for doing music serving and AirPlaying?

Soon I will have a 2009 mini up for sale that runs Mountain Lion with 8 G RAM and a 750 G hybrid HDD... I have been watching the prices on Ebay recently to figure out fair market value...

Sorry I don't follow. Why do you need a monitor again? I think the options above will work well. I could easily give you a quick intro at my place before I leave in a couple weeks...

Amarra for $59. Was from a promo a while ago but the link still works. Just remember to set alert sounds to an interface other than the one being used for music output for best results.

^But this seems to be just for an "additional seat license" which I guess requires you already own a license. Wasn't this to get an offer for Amarra clients friends?
