November 13, 2025Nov 13 Basically all in the title... finally cancelled my HP Instant Ink service (what a scam) and would like a normal printer please.
November 13, 2025Nov 13 We've been using Canon inkjet printers for quite awhile (had two). Our current one is a TR8500 something or other IIRC. I buy the ink off of Amazon (EZ Ink store there) and it has worked fine. I had used Epson prior to that but got tired of their print heads clogging and bricking the printer. Ink is $25 for a full load for our model (currently on sale for $16). EDIT: Our is a TR8520. Best Buy has a similar TR8620 now, here. Edited November 13, 2025Nov 13 by Pars
November 14, 2025Nov 14 I started using 3rd-party ink for my HP DeskJet - it's been working out fine for the last year or so (HP discontinued the cartridges).
November 14, 2025Nov 14 Author I'm going to look into the 3rd party cartridges. When we first got it I don't think there were any, but hopefully that has changed by now.
November 14, 2025Nov 14 I used a Printronic cartridge from OCProducts - I might try the cartridges at 123ink.ca, Moustache brand next.
November 14, 2025Nov 14 Author Thanks for the link, I'll have a look when I get out of the kids room, my 4yo is just falling asleep. The 9yo is at baseball.
November 14, 2025Nov 14 Inkjet printing? How very 2005! I print everything on a 3D printer now. Gay porn on a 3D printer is especially mind altering.
November 14, 2025Nov 14 Author Trying to print the One Piece (Dungeons & Devil Fruits) rules for that D&D game I'm running for my Son's birthday and it crapped out half way through the players handbook. So I'll probably try to order some of the 3rd party toner... or just sneak print it at work. Edited November 14, 2025Nov 14 by philodox
November 14, 2025Nov 14 Author Haha, It's been a trip Steve! You really need to figure out your own shit when you have little ones to look after. They both look much more like Mom, but they each have half of my brain. I've come to realize that I'm basically a shaman and a hunter trapped in the same body. Jack/Jackson (my 9yo, soon to be 10) is the shaman. He's super deep and sensitive, always reading or drawing, has spoken like an adult since he was 5 and has most of them wrapped around his finger. Most of the girls in his class and probably a few of the boys have crushes on him and he has absolutely no idea, lol. We're currently reading together while I have my morning coffee. Westley/West (my 4yo) is most definately the hunter. He's like a force of nature, full of personality, turn your back for a second and he's gone, always climbing the highest thing he can find but rarely gets hurt. Lies compulsively, but is *terrible* at it. Lately has been bringing home school library books without taking them out properly and tells us that his friends are giving them to him. They certainly keep us on our toes. Edited November 14, 2025Nov 14 by philodox
November 14, 2025Nov 14 Last I remember you had recently separated from your wife, and had just met 'Keylime Pie'. Is Keylime Pie Mommy, or has another dessert stolen your heart?
November 14, 2025Nov 14 Author She sure is, Key-Lime Pie Girl and I have been together since then. Good memory! Rachel remembers you as well and was part of the push for me reaching out to Renato et al. and coming back here. Takes good care of me. We actually got married recently as she wanted her Dad to walk her down the aisle (he has Parkinsons). Edited November 14, 2025Nov 14 by philodox
November 14, 2025Nov 14 Author Just ordered that Mustache toner from 123ink, so I'll let you know how it is.
November 14, 2025Nov 14 Author That looks like some decent info, I'll check it out. Ordered the Mustache XL combo pack (black and colour) from 123ink.ca Came to just under $50, but getting rid of the $8 shipping only needed $12 more, so got myself a 25ft Cat5E cable, some electrical tape, and a sewing measuring tape to round it out at around $55 with free shipping. The Cat5E cable will allow me to connect my computer wired to the high speed port, which should be a little more reliable for streaming.
