Favorite Hakko 936 tips

Featured Replies

So I am getting ready to order a Hakko 936 as my cheap-o irons have pretty much had it. Which soldering tips do you guys recommend? I'm not real big on single use tools, so which tip would you consider the swiss army knife for the Hakko? I will be soldering my first SMD parts so something that runs the gammut would be great.

Thanks

The stock one is the one I use most. If you are going to be doing small SMD parts they have a 1/16" chisel tip that works well. If you have a Fry's around they stock many of the tips if you want to look at them before deciding.

Don't touch it when its hot.

Don't use in bathtub.

Don't poke in eye.

Oh right...nevermind...

I know, I know...

Just don't ask me to rank my headphones. :)

I use the stock tip 95% of the time (still using the original one like new after a couple years or so), but I mainly do p2p and through-hole work, not smd.

--- clean the tip often, if not every time you solder a component ---
