December 16, 200916 yr Ella Fitzgerald, Keith Jarrett, and the best jazz albums of 2009. Plus: The best jazz albums of the decade. - By Fred Kaplan - Slate Magazine Go Blake.
December 16, 200916 yr I really can't handle Jarrett's moaning at all. I'm really drawn to ECM for modern stuff. I need to get that Steve Kuhn album.
December 16, 200916 yr Heh, I never knew about the Masada scale thing. I'd heard a couple of Zorn's albums and couldn't figure out where he was coming from, but that's pretty cool. Also didn't know about a new Jarrett improv, must find that now.
December 16, 200916 yr ....and now for something different. Sorry Dany, I missed my opportunity to send you this.
December 16, 200916 yr good stuff yeah I've been trying to decide which Ella album to get (she has quite a few) good to know about the other albums as well of course and at the bottom of the page are the top albums of the decade as well
December 16, 200916 yr I really can't handle Jarrett's moaning at all. I've gotten used to it to the point where I hardly even hear it anymore.
December 16, 200916 yr Sorry for the thread jack. Re: Jarrett, I feel the sonic qualities of the recordings makes up for the moaning and after a while I don't even notice. Kind of like a live recording with someone in the audience coughing.
December 16, 200916 yr It's a good list. I have been listening to the ones I don't know already and I need to pick up some of these.
December 17, 200916 yr Sorry Dany, I missed my opportunity to send you this. What possibly made you think that I like old French hippies jazz/world music... Amicalement PS Good call Greg since I have all their CDs....
