Friend is looking to setup a cheap audio/video system and looking to spend $600-750 on a receiver. Anyone have a suggestion in this price range? He's leaning towards a couple Denon and Yamaha models, neither of which he or I has any experience with. Any help would be much appreciated. Thought of the Outlaw RR2150, but he wants HDMI if possible.

There's no reason to compromise on HDMI.

I wouldn't rule out Onkyo, neither. TX-SR607, or 608 if he can wait.

I'm also in the market, I think. Looking for something that can do time-delay adjustments as this is becoming an increasing issue for me. I'm pretty sure that I'll have to use HDMI switching to be able to manipulate this properly.

Thanks Dusty. One thing I should have mentioned is he wants a phono input.

Figure out what features and how many input/outputs you want, then pick whichever Denon or Onkyo fits your budget. Phono inputs are becoming somewhat rare on modern recievers.

the rotel and the outlaw are the only 2 with phono I'd consider, personally. Deal with the hdmi with an external switch.

I'd recommend an external phono box, myself, but grawk's suggestion is just as valid. Probably something the friend should decide.

Yah, just you get a better phonostage in the rotel or outlaw than you could buy separately for much less than the total cost of the receiver.
