At least someone is looking at it...

Please check again for more errors.

PS board.

Not connected to the GND .

  • After 5 years from the time I acquired the PCBs and parts, I finally took advantage of the free time created by the pandemic and completed my KGSSHV.  This is the offboard version with +/-500V supply.

  • Not sure if we have a KGSS thread but I'll just post this here.  So last year it dawned on me that I built my first KGSS amp 15 years ago and something had to be done to celebrate that.  It started of

Wiper should be connected to -500. Same for both channels(same for last post above also)

Well the ps board was not updated for some reason, all those should be fixed now.

The wiper on the pot is the center pin, and as a two wire device it really does not matter

which end its tied to ??

The connectons to ground are hard to see in the jpg's.

here are the pdf's

You are right. What about RV2/R44/R45?

Is Rev 0 the correct board?

EDIT: correct amp board

Edited by digger945

K. Gilmore stated:-

475 volt windings... 2 of them, completely seperated. 39 watts each

30 volts center tapped 10va

475V @ 39 watts is only 8.2mA. ....?

Don't you mean 82

Sorry, must have dyslexic fingers and calculator.....

Fixed.

new jpg and pdf for the amp board.

keep the errors comming please, need it to be perfect the first time.

I'd spec the transformer at 100mA for some extra headroom but I like to overbuild...

C1 and C2(5pF) missing

I forgot, the 170/389 silks and stuff look good(I can't read the DGS but regardless it's correct by the silk)

C1 and C2 were always optional anyway, way back from the start. Never needed them before,

hope not to need them now on the board, but might as well have a place for them if needed.

Way to go, Spritzer. I like it....

More power for the peeples....

Missing TKD GND lands.

On the schematics.

R50 10K > 300ohm

I have no more issue for the amp board.

So the transformer is going to be 4 inches in diameter.

Which means that the inside of the box is going to have to be 13 x 13 inches for

a single chassis thing. Heatsinks both sides.

If you can't find the appropriate rubber ones try sleeving over the joint with silicone tubing.

i'm thinking seriously of doing a version of the board with a simplified current source that performs just as good

(1000 volt ixys part, thanks marc) and with standup heatsinks. Will make it lots easier and cheaper for

people to build it. Power supply will be the same thing. Hopefully will get started on it friday.

Will cut the power supply voltages to +/-450 just to make sure the current source has a bit of headroom.

if anyone knows of a depletion mode fet that does more than 1000 volts and will run at 1ma, let me know.

High voltage depletion mode JFET

but it is too big... :(

I think there was a group buy for them recently on diya. It might still be on going.

its also a jfet. in any case i will try and buy a few and test them.

i assume people are using them as current sources, would like to

know how they actually perform.
